DOHA STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH #RESIST250 at #MardiaGras2020
"The Department of HOMO Affairs stands in solidarity with First Nations Peoples calling this boat an UNAUTHORISED ENTRY. In line with government policy, the REPLICA ENDEAVOUR WILL BE detained. and processed for an undefined period"
And the best Mardi Gras float of 2020 goes to ... the Department of Homo Affairs (DOHA) - despite the irony that DOHA members were arrested for protesting on Ox...ford Street 41 years after the original arrests.

Update for those involved in #BlockadeIMARC last year. What a surprise, Victorian Police harassing people daring to exercise their democratic right to protest. Our rights mean nothing if we can’t exercise them.
Update – Victoria Police have continued to harass IMARC protesters over the past two weeks. We know of ten protestors contacted by police, with most asked to co...me in for interviews and potential charges.
No extra charges have been laid at this point, but the police say they intend to charge some protesters with “unlawful assembly” – an attempt to criminalise the entire protest – and “beset premises”, an old anti-picketing law.
This is an outrageous attack on the right to protest, which we will be vigorously opposing both in court and on the streets.
We’re reposting the info below from a couple of weeks ago. Basically:
**get in touch if you’re approached by the cops!
**stay strong!! Our cause is just and there’s plenty of support around.
**remember – ALL discussions with police (apart from name and address) should be “no comment”!!!
**we have a major court date on March 12 – please come along and show support!!!!

Know your rights – We will not be intimidated!
Important Alert: Victoria Police are contacting some IMARC protestors, including some who weren’t arrested at the protest itself, and threatening to lay further charges.
Four important points about this:
1. If you’re contacted by police in relation to IMARC, let us know!! Phone the arrestee support team number: 0431 319 016.
We have a group working on arrestee support, links with lawyers, money for legal expenses… with the climate movement on the rise, there is plenty of solidarity around.
2. Everyone, in all interactions with police, should give a “no comment” interview.
This means answering “no comment” to ALL questions (except name and address) in ALL situations. Whether you are in a formal interview or whether the cops are getting chatty, just replying “no comment” means you don’t give the cops any free kicks when they try to prosecute us for civil disobedience.
3. We refuse to be intimidated!!
Three horrific months of fire and ash since the IMARC conference has demonstrated exactly why we were right to disrupt the climate criminals with our non violent mass blockade. Tens of thousands have protested in response to this escalation in the climate crisis: thousands recognise that any mass movement needs a civil disobedience wing to give it a cutting edge.
It’s an indictment of Victoria Police (and Daniel Andrews, who claims to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with them) that the companies that fuel the climate catastrophe for profit are left to do their “business as usual” in Collins St, while the cops invest enormous resources into intimidating non violent protestors.
We’re organising court support for everyone charged following the protests: Our next major court date is Thursday March 12 at the Melbourne Magistrates Court, when ten IMARC arrestees appear for their first mention – we’re gathering outside at 9am to show support for arrestees

4. Solidarity is the key
The same forces which are smoothing the way to a profit fuelled climate apocalypse are stealing Indigenous land, brutalising Indigenous people, and trashing wages and conditions for the whole working class.
We won’t be intimidated by Victoria Police attempting to criminalise peaceful protest. We’ll keep fighting alongside each other: there’s no other option left.
