Alice Anderson is the author of HUMAN NATURE: Poems, awarded both the Elmer Holmes Bobst Prize for Emerging Writers from NYU and the Best First Book Prize from the Great Lakes Colleges Association. Past recipients of the Bobst Prize include John Updike, Eudora Welty, Toni Morrison, and Arthur Miller. Human Nature earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly, and rave reviews from Booklist, Library Journal, and the Boston Review of Books.
Anderson holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her work is featured extensively in journals such as The New York Quarterly, Agni, Plum Review, New Letters, and the like. Anderson's poems are featured in the anthologies On The Verge: Emerging Poets and Artists in America; American Poetry: The Next Generation; The Why and Later; and in the 20th Anniversary Edition of The Courage to Heal.
Anderson is an activist for victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
Anderson has completed two new poetry collections, ELECTRIC PLUM BURLESQUE and THE WATERMARK, and is working on a memoir.
