#Digital over-dependence at its worst?

Recent studies into the mental effects of dating apps have uncovered devastatingly negative effects.

A new study featured in TIME Magazine, which was presented at the annual convention of the American Psychological Association, suggested some detrimental psychological effects of the popular dating app #Tinder.

...

Scientists discovered that “compared to people who weren’t on the dating app, Tinder users had lower levels of self-worth, reported being less satisfied with their faces and looks and were more ashamed of their bodies.”

Tinder users were also "more likely to think of themselves as sexual objects, to internalise societal ideals about beauty, to compare their appearances to others and to constantly monitor how they looked."

More and more, it's evident that today's society - especially those of the younger generations - is in desperate need of a #digitaldetox.

If there's someone you care about who fits the above description and/or seemingly 'cannot live without their mobile phone' (leaves it on overnight, checks it first thing upon waking, constantly on social media in public or in the presence of friends/family, partakes in 'screen-walking', etc.) and is constantly distracted, perhaps Richard Scott of Mynd Works Therapy can help.

Whether they’re swiping left or swiping right, male users of the popular dating app Tinder appear to have lower levels of self-esteem and more negative perception of body image than those who don’t use the app.
