Press! Many thanks to Jolie Valentine and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for covering the “Action Movement Revolution” exhibition at MCG Youth & Arts.

“sarah huny young is exhibiting her seminal AMERICAN WOMAN series for the first time in printed form. It previously has been presented primarily online. For Action•Movement•Revolution, Ms. young chose portraits of 58 women she photographed and interviewed for the project, including Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement, and... her own daughter, Serena Lucille. Ms. huny considered her subjects co-curators, allowing each to choose her setting and outfit.

Ms. huny’s portraits illuminate each American Woman’s personality and exquisiteness. Dismantling the idea of the white, blonde, blue-eyed American woman as the norm, Ms. young’s work is an investigation of “intersectionality and womanism.” It provides an intimate view of influential women living as entrepreneurs, politicians, activists and role models.”
