“There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live.” ― Dalai Lama XIV
The question,"What is my purpose?" can be a very intimidating topic to consider for many people. More often than not, we tend to put a ton of pressure on ourselves, thinking we have to determine THE thing that we will call our purpose from now until the end of time. And this just simply isn't the case. Your purpose is ever expanding and evolving, and it's much easier (and WAY more productive) to get clear on what your purpose is in this moment in time... Being an entrepreneur has not always been easy (and is still not always easy).
Back when I was pregnant with my first daughter (Brielle, who is now 12), I made a decision that I would create a lifestyle that would allow me to be with my kids and never miss a beat in their lives. I decided I wasn’t going back to a job that required me to be away from home.
As a single mother, I have gone through a lot of struggles in the process. There have been times where people thought I wa...s completely insane because I could barely pay the bills and I refused to let go of my dream. Times when my friends and family were begging me to go get a job…
But I wouldn’t.
I’ve always known what my why is. I know why I do what I do and why I get out of bed in the morning.
My ‘Why’ is my kids. I want to be able to be there for them and never miss a beat, but I’m also committed to setting an example for them as well, so that they know that this (and ANYTHING they set their minds to) is possible for them also.
I love that I get to go to all of my daughter’s soccers tournaments, and that I get to chaperone field trips and field days at the school (that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow!), and eat lunch in the cafeteria sometimes.
But getting a message like this is what really makes it all worthwhile.
Brielle is VERY responsible and it’s a rarity that she would ever forget to bring something she needs to school with her.
But this morning she got to school and realized that she forgot an assignment she’s been working very hard on.
I saw it on the table and told her I would bring it in for her, and I received this message.
My heart is overflowing with gratitude right now. It’s times like these when I feel the most grateful that I have stuck to my guns and never let go of my reason for being an entrepreneur.
THIS is my why.
