Another great weekend canvass. Ran into Doña Laura y Doña Juana, I caught them right after mass and they're happy to support.

Después de misa, me topé con Doña Laura y Doña Juana, quienes cuentan que les importa mejorar nuestras escuelas, y que los maestros amen y protejan a nuestros estudiantes!

A parent I used to organize with and had the pleasure of teaching her sons (Miguel and Angel) just shared my video with this message; "Hola amistades del Facebook voten por Angela Cobian para las escuelas públicas de Denver excelente maestra ser humano. Y sobre todo conoce las necesidades de nuestros hijos."

Translation: "Hello Facebook friends, vote for Angela Cobian for Denver Public Schools. She's an excellent teacher and human. And above all, she knows our kids needs."

On the 5th anniversary of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), I want to recognize the contributions of my abuelito Nico. My abuelito was a member of the Bracero program, helping to feed our nation by working as a farm worker during our country's time of need. He crossed the border multiple times to work. As we consider the DACA students who are #heretostay, let's also acknowledge that our immigrant community members #havebeenhere. Not only are we #heretostay, but we are also #heretothrive. Shout out to the undocumented students, teachers, organizers, and family members among our ranks. Join me in defending DACA and saving TPS by signing here: bit.ly/Support-DACA-TPS

The best surrogates and supporters! My mother, teacher and family service liaison supporting Head Start families for more than 15 years. My father, getting up before the sun to go to work and support our family.

¡Los mejores sustitutos y partidarios! Mi madre, maestra y enlace de servicios familiares apoyando a las familias de Head Start por más de 15 años. Mi padre, inventándose a la madrugada para ir a trabajar y apoyar a su familia.

DPS School Board member candidate wants to include impacted populations in decision making?!? Imagine that! YES!!! @Cobian4DPSD2

Yesterday, I went door-knocking with my friend for the campaign and someone asked me, "Are you even a legal citizen? What are your thoughts on gays?" I answered unequivocally and stood grounded in my values and the community I come from. Later, I went to the Saint Cajetan Catholic Church Denver Bazaar and saw my friend Don Francisco. Don Francisco is in his 80's, participated in the grape boycott with the United Farmworkers, moved to Denver and supported his family by selling tamales in offices downtown. THIS is the community I come from!

In the past few months, our campaign has heard from students, families, teachers, and community members about what is important to them in terms of education and Denver Public Schools. As a teacher and community organizer, it is important for me to bring those voices and my experiences to light.

Get to know students in District 2 and my vision for Denver Public Schools by checking out my priorities-page:

When our students, families, and schools thrive, so does Denver. As the city continues its growth, we must equip our students to grow with it while also honoring the diversity of the city. This starts with ensuring all students, including those in District 2, have access to a high-quality education.

As we near 100 days till Election Day, I'm honored to have been selected as the "broad" of the month in Denver. Read about how my courageous and fierce mother influenced my decision to teach, organize, and run for office; https://www.thebroadviewdenver.com/…/broad-of-the-month-ang…

By Lisa Ingarfield | @tritodefi Making tamales together at the kitchen table is a Cobián Family Christmas tradition. One Christmas, Cobián’s mother received a call prompting her to leave their tamale making for about 30 minutes. On her return, the family asked where she had been. Cobiá

Secretary John Kelly of Homeland Security recently told lawmakers that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) could be in jeopardy. This could affect up to 800,000 young people people nationwide and 33,000 IN COLORADO--including family and friends from our school communities locally. While Secretary Betsy DeVos is here on Thursday, let's hold her accountable to students and families in our schools by asking her to commit to defending DACA, supporting the 2017 DREAM Act INTRODUCED TODAY IN THE SENATE, and fight for permanent protection of ALL FAMILIES. Add your name to support DACA recipients: goo.gl/d7YUJy
