Good night on this beautiful Christmas Eve, people of the page. May your holiday be filled with all good things. Love to all from Anne.
Alastair Sim in "A Christmas Carol" or "Scrooge" is a film I watch every year. The blu ray is breathtaking. But you can stream standard definition on Amazon. This for me is the classic version.
The holidays for me mean watching a lot of fine television and film with my son and TV writing partner, Christopher Rice, and beloved friend Eric Shaw Quinn, and other family. So I find articles like this helpful and interesting. And boy, do I ever recommend "Moonlight." Go see "Moonlight." It is not always easy to watch; it has pain and beauty; anguish and wisdom. But it is a GREAT film. Barry Jenkins deserves accolades, awards, support, encouragement and the brass ring.
To clarify an earlier post, ladies and gentlemen. Irish Spring soap is recommended by many for "restless leg syndrome." You place it under the fitted top sheet of your bed, on top of the mattress so that the sheet holds the soap in place. You place it near the foot of the bed. And you change the soap periodically to keep it fresh. Some recommend Lavender soap for this. Some recommend Ivory. Many say this works. Some think it may have to do with the aroma of the soap. Some think it works due to a chemical in the soap. The mechanism that produces results is not known. And I can find nothing on anyone studying it. What I do find is abundant evidence that it works for people.
Thanks to Nola Schnidman for this message on the page: I count Nola as a beloved friend and am reposting with gratitude. Nola says: "For those who may have missed this ... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to us all.
For the People of the Page - I know it's not officially Christmas but I wanted to write this now before the real insanity starts and I get too busy. This year has not been an easy one for me. Personal medical issues, as well as, those of my family, have left... me physically and emotionally drained. Tired beyond human limits. But, through it all, I have found a second home and people who care amongst the People of the Page. I don't have many friends because, let's face it, I'm as anti-social as my Father was before me. And, many people say Facebook friends are not real friends. Just faceless words on a screen. Well, I'm here to tell you it has been those very same faceless people that have lifted me up, given me strength and prayed for me and mine without any thought to who I really am or whether I deserve their kindness. Without people like the always sweet and reassuring Granny Goodwich and Joanna Zeller Quinn ( just to name a couple) I really don't think I would have made it through this year. And a special shout-out to the host of this page, the grand lady herself, Anne Rice, who always has a minute for me, a gracious ear and a kind word when scary thoughts keep me up to all hours. So, I guess what I'm saying, is thank you to everyone on this page for helping me through a very difficult time. You have my heart and best wishes for a blessed holiday season. Here's to 2017; may it be the best year ever for us all!" End of Nola's comment. I too have found a second home on this page with the people of the page, and one very special person of the page is Nola.
How many of you have put bars of soap in your beds to cure restless leg syndrome? I'm serious. Don't laugh. I just discovered that this is a widespread "cure" for restless leg syndrome which by the way can drive one nuts. Soap of choice? Irish Spring for many. Lavender soap for some. Ivory soap for some. I tried it last night with Irish Spring. Seems to work. I've been searching the net for info on this ---- I stumbled on the idea only yesterday ---- and I'm fascinated by the question. What are your thoughts?
How many years have I posted this? Enjoy:
Good Morning, People of the Page. Merry Christmas to you all wherever your are in the world. Christmas Eve to me is like New Years to many others, the day on which the world...at midnight..is born anew. I hope you are celebrating the holidays as we are...being together with those you love, feasting, having fun.
"The Wolves of Midwinter" is my only full dress supernatural Christmas novel, during which my werewolves celebrate both Christmas with their mortal friends, and Yule with one another(and other immortals) in the depths of the northern redwood forest. It's available now on kindle and in paperback, and it is still available in hardcover too. See this link.
Just saw "Moonlight" -- written and directed by Barry Jenkins, starring Trevante Rhodes and other fine actors. Fantastic. More pain and tragedy and truth in one film than the soul can quite bear. Beautiful. --- Just beautiful. I feel that it is in art like this that we save ourselves. When politics disappoints us, when our country surprises us, when we are numbed and discouraged by "current events," it is in art like "Moonlight" that we save our souls. Can't praise the film enough. "In theaters now" as they say...and for always.
Hardcover of "Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis" is available for $13.60 on Amazon (with delivery tomorrow for an added fee). I just happened to see this! Quite a Christmas offer. The kindle is $9.99.
Once again, allow me to invite all of you to the new Vampire Chronicles FB page where Christopher and I will be taking note of ALL comments from readers on what they hope to see in the Vampire Chronicles Television series. Note the blue check mark authenticating the page. As we both post there, I identify myself as Anne or AR when I post. Do give the page a look. We should have a new banner for it shortly as Becket is back from his honeymoon and hard at work on it for us.
