Join me in wishing Happy 100th Birthday to WWII Combat Army Veteran Sgt. Burton Bruce Wells, born May 17, 1919! On Sunday, May 12, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9399 paid tribute to this WWII survivor with an Honor Guard and a brief ceremony to show their deepest respect for Wells' service to our country. He was presented with a Life Membership to the Post and several birthday gifts. Wells' wartime battle actions/campaigns were for three years, one month, twenty-nine days. He served in Normandy and Argonnes (France), Rhineland (Germany), and the Middle Eastern Theater (Africa, Central Europe and Italy). His state-side service was for one year, three months, six days. Awards and Ribbons earned include: Good Conduct Ribbon (1st Award), American National Defense Service Ribbon, European – African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbons, Two Bronze Stars, Battle Ribbon, Silver Battle Star, Six Overseas Gold Bars. CPL Burton B Wells Served Honorably with Distinction.
