Dear Creative Writing Teachers,
Since 2002, Thoreau’s Rooster: A National Review of Undergraduate Creative Nonfiction, has published hundreds of creative pieces by undergraduates across the country – with the help, of course, of their teachers.
We are proud to continue the tradition by announcing the Spring 2018 edition of Thoreau’s Rooster, including the usual Editor’s Prize of $200. We would deeply appreciate you passing on the attached poster to your teachers and students ...of creative writing.
This year’s deadline is November 13th. Pieces may be submitted to the Thoreau’s Rooster website at http://www1.assumption.edu/pro…/english/rooster/submissions/.
Past Editor’s Prize judges have included Bill Roorbach, David Gessner, and Trudy Lewis. This year, the publication board is headed by student Editors-in-Chief Luke Maguire and Katelyn Merrigan; founder Mike Land serves as advisor.
The Rooster welcomes undergraduate pieces that meet the criterion cited by Lee Gutkind, editor of the review Creative Nonfiction: “True stories well told.”
Please direct any questions or concerns to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for considering Thoreau’s Rooster as an opportunity for your students.
Luke Maguire and Katelyn Merrigan
