Hmm Secretary you just don't care much about civil rights of black children. This is horrible but let's talk about, for a minute institutional racism and racial discrimination. What this budget says about students of color for me it's it's a slap in the face. First, about you cut one million dollars from the office of civil rights. We know that school discipline practices disproportionately impact black and latino students, not recently um you said that you were Sure, are you didn't know whether or not grace plays a role in school discipline. Now isn't that your job shouldn't be sure that schools aren't reading aren't abc executing harsher punishments for the same behavior, because they're black or Brown could you try to talk a little bit about your views on students of color and let me just begin by thanking you for your concern. More broadly around students of color and I just wanna say that I believe this budget does very much not only Packed but encourage students of color to pursue their education. You still haven't talked about the issue in public schools as a relates to black and Brown students and they the hide disparity rates as related blades to suspensions and expulsion and is race a factor. Do you believe that or not let me just save is there racial bias is no place for discrimination and there is no tolerance for discrimination and we will continue to uphold that. I'm very proud of the rec Heard of the office for civil rights and continuing to address issues that arise to that level. But you're taking away a million dollars from the office to the right the team and the August for civil rights is doing an amazing job. They have continue to uh investigate and solve and resolve issues at a much more rapid rate than was previously done. I will continue to defend all of the work that they have done more just still work budget. Madam Secretary and that's going to mean that We'll have less civil rights enforcement for students of color also just look at what you're suggesting as it relates to the discipline guidelines in the Obama administration. That ensure that students of color were not subject to harsher discipline practices. You all or you're actually talking about that. Now. What is that mean for black and Brown students, harris woman. I said before I'll say again, there is no place for discrimination and we are not tolerating discrimination but you're saying that your policy is alright budget show the are friendly civil rights budget uh Reduction is less than a one less than one percent. This office is being of operated and is functioning at a much more efficient level than it was previously and so they are able to do more with less than an Secretary. That's and not have to one that's not acceptable when you look at the huge explosion and suspension rates and what is taking place in terms of racial bias in our public schools. You need to increase that budget and you need to back off with looking at how to resend the policies that would deak He's the prison the school to prison pipeline for black and proud as Secretary to answer with delays time as expired you're strong. I think I think I've address that issue
