What were their LGU thinking? It's beauty is dying if not dead. It's getting hotter with my every visit. The scenery has also degraded. I miss Baguio when it was year 2000.

The way your economising y...our resources is not sustainable. Sooner or later the locals will only have themselves to blame. See More

Baguio over the years

My friends who know me by heart are well aware how much I love the City of Pines. Of late our visits are, at most, thrice a year and at the very least, once. During the earlier ...years, it was every after year. But in my dreams, it's gotta be 365 times a year

My first time in Baguio was in 1997, a mere overnight. It was short but I fell in love with Baguio nonetheless. The next one was the following year and the year that followed and so on. Until I got married, will there be any other choice for the honeymoon but Baguio? That was 2004. And year after year, we come by to what have become our happy place.

But what is it in Baguio that it came to be our happy place?

First, the weather. It's as if you are in an airconditioned place everywhere. The clean, crisp air that is so heavenly.

Regardless of how many locals are there now, for me, the air is still crisp.

Our recent Baguio trip has been recorded as the coldest in 46 years.

I don't know with you but Baguio weather calms every single nerve in my body.

Second would be the food. Baguio abounds with the most delicious food this side of the mountain. Be it carinderia style, casual or fine dining, there's gotta be one in every nook and cranny of Baguio. New food establishments rise year after year but it's got to be the old ones that kept us coming:

Good Taste's spicy chicken
Rancho Norte's Tapang Usa
Canto's Lomo Ribs
Balajadia's Bulalo
Vizco's blueberry cheesecake
Happy Tummy's Crispy Tilapia
Happy Tummy's Chicken Pandan
50's Diner
Solibao's all year round puto bumbong
Mines View's inihaw na pusit and mais
Strawberry Field's and Burnham's strawberry taho
The Public Market's Bagnet and Baguio Longganisa

Our recent tries were Element's buffet merienda.

And a whole lot more.

Third is the people. There you will meet the friendliest people, as if you were friends of long standing. Long lost relatives (for my hubby) and new ones (for me) will offer you their home and food for free!

Here you will meet the most kind-hearted taxi drivers who will give you your exact change after each ride.

We will never get tired of visiting Baguio. We once thought of settling there early this year after my retirement from the corporate world. It didn't happen maybe because it's still too early to retire but Baguio will definitely be our retirement home. A few more years, baby!

Baguio may not be as it was some years back. Commercialism has come unabashedly. The local tourists who flocked every Summers and Christmases should learn how to keep the city clean after their visit. Sadly, tons of garbage are left in the park and in the streets after each visit.

We want Baguio to keep its beautiful surroundings free of garbage for the next generation to enjoy after all it's the only place in our country which has its own a/c open all year round.

Is there a forest reserve in Baguio? I mean an area which cannot be touched, a zone where trees must have to be preserved. Or is it like any part of the mountain can be developed or be converted to re...sidential areas? See More

An extremely overcrowded city where more than half of the country visits just “because of the weather”. City is not even a shadow of what it was a couple decades ago. They know it’s crowded, they come anyways.

This is my first time in baguio , for me baguio is one of the best tourist spot in the Philippines. If you are staying in manila and you were going to baguio the weather there is so different compare manila. There's so many places that you can visit there like boating, horseback riding , and youll be able to try or wear their tribes costume/s and ofcourse where the baguio is most known for their LIONS HEAD . This experience of mine is the most treasurable , enjoyable and the most relaxing place I've ever met. If I have given a chance to be there once again I will never ever think twice to say YES. It is worth spending leisure time and seeing nice people.
A Baguio Sunrise.

Do we really need another mall? Do we have to sacrifice a piece of public green space for it? This is not Manila.
