I remember arriving to Ko Tao with my luggage and wandering from dive resort to dive resort gathering quotes and assessing what each one offered. After weighing... my options I landed on Ban's an what a relief that decision was!

Everything was taken care of. Staff at both the resort and dive course were just great. One thing's for sure though when signing up, REQUEST A SMALL GROUP! Diving can be a scary endeavour so having an instructor between 2-3 people is ideal. I was paired with a girl who was on her own too. Together with our instructor Dan, we had a blast and the whole experience was smooth and confident. The fact that my diving partner was really hot and fun was an added bonus ;)

That was in 2014 and I can't wait to go back and do the advanced course! Night diving is going to be SO SICK!!

I started the course in tears and have ended it so happy!! A massive well done to Tara, i would n...ever have done this without her and she helped me to overcome my fears. With the help and encouragment from herself and Patrick i would never have even attempted the first dive and now ive done 4, with 3 more to do! Honestly cant thank you enough. Now i dont ever want to leave. Let me stay!!!
Well done Bans, but a massive well done and thankyou to Tara and Patrick!x

Weary travellers, my friend and I came to Ban's searching for clean bathrooms and some friendly souls.

We were not disappointed! The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. The fridge was restocked with water every day and the room came with beach umbrellas and towels. Amazing.

We took the DSD (try dive) with Hanno and Gavin. They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Super chill and knowledgeable guys who made our first ever dives a memorable experience.

We decided to continue on and get our Open Water Certification. Our instructor, Lianne, could teach a rock how to scuba dive. Her amount of experience shows and she makes everyone feel comfortable in the classroom and in the water.

The support staff at Ban's are equally awesome. The girls at reception are MVPs and changed our ferry and train tickets when we extended our stay. Shout out to the guy who works at the equipment deck desk. Super friendly and always had solid advice on things to do/places to see.

TL;DR: Great amenities, staff, and dive school. 10/10 would stay again!

My family and I Would like to send a big thank you to Ban's diving for making our first diving experience such a memorable one. Our instructor Hampus was really... great together with the french instructor Max and divemaster Alexander. We were able to do our course in Swedish which we felt more comfortable with. Would also to like to say thanks to the nice staff in the reception that helped us with everything and always with a smile!
We will be back!

I'm terrified of swimming underwater in the sea&I only started snorkelling properly about a week a go. So I'm not quite sure how I talked myself into doing the scuba with Bans (i did nearly chicken out at the last minute!!) But I am so so glad I did! My instructor Ryan was amazing & really put me at ease! I honestly don't think I would have done the sea dive if I had someone who didn't make me feel as comfortable in the water as he did (even if it didn't always look that way!!) I was also lucky to have a DMT out with me (another Ryan) so I had one person holding my hand and the other holding my BCD Underneath the fear I loved every minute & I wish I could do it again! Hopefully I'll get braver on my travels & return to Bans to do my open water! Massive thanks to the two Ryan's! See More

Unfortunately I do NOT recommend Ban's Diving Resort and I WON'T come back to this Dive School....
I've been an Advanced Diver for years and was looking forward to a couple of casual dives with my husband at Ban's as we were staying at the resort - but it never came to that!
The staff at the Dive Center were just rude!! We just wanted some welcoming information...but we only got snappy answers.
It was also a shock that they wanted us to do a Refresher Course in the pool for three hours. In an email months before I got informed it was only 'recommended' - and not compulsory!! I'm all about safety - but I rather waste that time somewhere else...
It was also disappointing that they didn't know the day in advance what dive spots would be visited...when we tried to talk to the reception lady at the dive center again, we only got rude answers...

While we stayed at the Resort, it became obvious that Ban's is like a mass production of Open Water Divers!

We'll be back in Koh Tao, but not at this Dive Center.

The course was great, but we stayed near to the restorant and it was allways very noisy, but the worse of everything, we rented a motorbike at the entrance, bec...ause we thought it was from the hotel but not, and we did a littke scratch and they made us pay A LOT!, so please you go, DONT RENT MOTORBIKES THERE! They steal your money. They made us pay for all the replacement things but we did only 2 scratches! And they are also not polite. See More

If you are interested in diving and getting PADI certified then Ban's is the place! Ask for Mario! This guy has years and years of knowledge and experience! When I get chance to come back and do my next level of diving I will be asking for him!

Introducing... the PADI Skill Circuit.

During the PADI Divemaster and Instructor courses, candidates learn to demonstrate many scuba skills. 20 of them are regr...ouped in Divemaster Skills Evaluation Workshop, also known as the Skill Circuit.

For the next 2 months, we are going to release a skill demonstration video on our YouTube Channel, every other day. These demonstrations are performed by Platinum Course Directors Natalie Hunt and Guillaume Fargues.

And we begin with... the C.E.S.A.!

The Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent (C.E.S.A.) is always recognized as one of the most important skills that is taught in the PADI system of education. You use it to ascend safely if you are out of air, shallower than 10 meters (30 feet) and cannot get help.

It is also a skill that has many critical attributes and requires a detailed demonstration. When practiced in confined water, this ascent is simulated horizontally.
Most candidates will be asked to demonstrate this in confined water, during the PADI Instructor Examination.
