DreamWorks Animation Television and Netflix today unveiled a first look of the highly-anticipated Netflix original series She-Ra and the Princess of Power, as well as the fall premiere date of November 16.
The images reveal several main characters from the upcoming series, including Adora and the titular She-Ra voiced by Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor), Glimmer voiced by Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), Bow voiced by Marcus Scribner (black-ish), and Catra voiced by AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs). Another image reveals Bright Moon Castle, the capital of Etheria and home-base to the Rebellion.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is the story of an orphan named Adora (Carrero), who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess She-Ra. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.

Castle Grayskull is located in "the bleak lands, where the sky is always like night"

The landscape surrounding Castle Grayskull is very similar to the one seen in the Minicomics Series 1 to Series 6 - once again we see a barren wasteland setting. In the last chapter of the DC Mini-Series comics "The Within These Walls... Armageddon!", we learn that the Castle is located in "the bleak lands" and that the sky above it "is always like night".
Furthermore, as Man-E-Faces approaches it, the Castle "awakens" and "...the sky that is always like night, explodes in brilliant flashes of ethereal hues...", suggesting that the surrounding lands themselves have some sort of magical properties.
Except for a small rocky rise occasionally seen in both series of comics, there is no other sort of environmental protection for the fortress.

I've been nigh-obsessed with the "Savage" MOTU since Day One...the Alcala art, the early packaging, the Obrero paintings, the Taylor designs...it all captured m…y imagination and defined so much of my childhood and my tastes, the significance cannot be overstated.
That being said, as Eric LeFeber posted earlier, I started work on a "Savage Eternia" custom tribute line of my own. I actually started this back in 2009 - believe it or not - and imagined it as an offshoot within Powers of Grayskull.
So, I thought I'd share some of the "lost Alcala mini-comics" I composited together (and yes, I have totally mapped out the stories that would fill the pages - in my mind). As well as the card-back content from my Savage Beast Man which would formally introduce the "Savage Eternia" into the then-canon.
Check 'em out and enjoy! (I'll separate the card-back material and min-comic covers in two posts.) With luck, I'll be delving more into the Savageness as time allows.

The packaging has been created by The Power and The Honor Foundation, which recruited original MOTU artist Errol McCarthy to create new illustrations for card back, Emiliano Santalucia, which art directed and colored the art, along with painting new cross sell figures, and the team of Emiliano, Eamon O'Donoghue, and James Eatock for the art card inserts.
The Foundation will soon publish an article on all the work that went into making the packaging as faithful to the original as possible.
