The desire to end Take Me With You with a sense of things to come made "Loose Ends" an obvious final song. The reality that the future is just as uncertain now as when this was written makes it an artful bridge into the new territory that b...ecame the material for If the Sky is Falling. Thanks to Nevin Dawson on viola and Nathan Finke on cello for bringing our long-imagined strings concept to life. For those mired in the winter chill, here's a warmer tune from Take Me With You - it's called Sunflower, and it's a breezy tune designed, very simply, to lift your spirits. The end section has always been a great dancing platform for fans ...and jam section for the band. As you've all seen, we're gearing up for the release of "If the Sky is Falling" . . . it's happening THIS FRIDAY! More info on that soon, and we're going to quickly wrap up the posting of the remaining tracks from Take Me With You. Up nex...t is More Like Ewe: The horns are back with a funky vengeance, thanks to Brian Miller, with his sexy impromptu sax solo, and LeRoy Barley (amazing trumpet solo on It Is What It Is). We had a great time working with Cameron Dye on the album, and his slinky bass really thumps on this track. Joel Keller brought his usual kindness and musicianship with all the tight percussion work. We made a rough video at the time, to give a small glimpse into our studio experience . . . enjoy!

One of our very first songs and a favorite at shows, particularly as a deep second-set excursion, Evolution has always been a launch pad for the band explore new musical territory. The mood is set immediately with Jay’s Moog and Mellotron, ...which Brandon supports with a rhythmic ferocity. Kevin digs in, delivering blistering guitar work that captures the raw energy of a live show. A big thanks here to the very talented Bernadette Robinson, Geri Long, and Kena Robinson for their gorgeous backing vocals on this and It Is What It Is. And, as always, thanks to Ian Schreier for the skillful mix job.

Amidst the bleak and wet briskness today arrived boxes of CDs on the porch, containing the first shipment of our new album - If the Sky is Falling. Appropriate? Perhaps.

As we prepare for the official launch, here's Talk, the next trac...k from Take Me With You, presented as a reaction to some of the angst and paranoia of life during wartime - it seems, for all the gunfire and exploding bombs in the world, the sound of human dialogue, discourse, and interaction is all-too-often drowned out.

So, as you enjoy your feasts, family, and friends, be sure to listen up, appreciate the dialogue, and put some passion in it!

This tune is about finding peace in longing and becoming comfortable enough with th...e world and yourself to let go of the physical idea of home. Today we're posting a two-for-one from the Take Me With You album, since it's Veteran's Day and since the new album is officially OFF TO THE PRESSES! First up today is "Love, Jones", one of our oldest tunes that was revamped from a wistful... acoustic ballad to a gospel-esque ode to getting up and getting out. Giving this the full-band treatment proved harder than we imagined, but Jay's keys and the soulful horns of Brian Miller & LeRoy Barley really revitalized it. For any of you who think you know what this song is about, you're wrong. But the sentiment remains, and we'll see you when we see you . . .

Happy Halloween, friends! The next installment from our already-released album is What Else Do I Need, making use of a 12-string Rickenbacker and some vintage keys to stir in a little 60s flavor.

Some words from Chris: "What I remember... most about this song was realizing the benefits of working with a really great producer. We only had the shell of this one when we went in the studio and, with Ian's guidance, some additional lyrics were written and the verses rearranged until we had this final version we all loved. What's it about? My dog Cody's separation anxiety (and missing my wife when she was out of town)."
