Yesterday the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) crew and I visited one ...of the coffee farms we have been supporting. ECI helps these amazing (mostly women) farmers with technical assistance by helping them access international markets.
In the course of the five years we’ve worked with them, farmer income has gone up 300%!!
We’ve met so many amazing farmers over the years and when they told us they had never drank coffee, much less the coffee from the beans they harvest, we decided to change that.
Brought some of their roasted coffee back to the farm yesterday. Asked Guancedica if she would do us the honor of sharing her first taste of coffee with us. She’s been farming coffee for more than fifty years! And never tried it.
