I’m very pleased to announce that The Forsaken Man, my fifth Mendenhall Mystery, is now available for pre-order:

It’s been a long, hard winter and Mendenhall Ch...ief of Police Kate Williams longs for a quiet Spring. With her deputy chief still recovering from an attempt on his life, the detachment is short-handed. Then someone steals a tank of valuable bull semen from a local vet and Kate’s constables scramble to investigate, leaving her to deal with a series of thefts and escalating vandalism at a construction site. And then there’s the whole Bert thing…

I had fun writing this one. It was a pleasure to revisit Mendenhall and spend time with Kate, Trepalli, McKell and the other constables. And I couldn’t wait to figure out what Kate was going to do about Bert.

If you’re curious, you can pre-order The Forsaken Man on Amazon ( or Kobo ( The book will be released on November 15.

Beneath the Waves!

Bundle author Alexandra Brandt got a gold star for the cover she designed for her story in The Beneath the Waves bundle!

Alexandra Brandt

Oh, wow -- I just got another gold star from the e-Book Cover Design Awards! This one is for one of my all-time favorite covers -- everything just seemed to com...e together perfectly.

Thank you Joel Friedlander from for the star and the accompanying words -- "The cover has an appealing delicacy to the typography, the color palette, and the illustration."

(By the way, as I apparently forgot to mention this earlier, the short story to which the cover belongs -- which originally came out in the No Humans Allowed anthology, and received a lovely review from Tangent Online -- is out now as a standalone story for 99 cents.)

MY NOVEL BLOODLINER IS FEATURED TODAY ON INSTAFREEBIE! Looking for a cool free book? Check out my novel, BLOODLINER, which is featured in today's InstaFreebie It First blog right here:…/

BLOODLINER is unlike any other book you've ever read about vampires. It includes Shakespeare, King Arthur, and Hercules, living in the modern world thanks to the benefits of eternal bloodsucking life. And it's jam-packed with adventure and crazy twists. I think it's safe to say, this book will blow your mind!

Here's the description from the InstaFreebie blog: Jonah Ivory has a family tree crawling with vampires. Guided by the sexy paranormal genealogist Stanza Miracolo, he must dig up his family’s twisted roots to crack an ancient conspiracy and beat the forces of darkness to a lost paradise. As Stanza traces Jonah’s undead family tree, she brings him and his cousin Mavis face to face with one vampire ancestor after another. In a wild hunt around the world, they search for the shocking answers to an ancient mystery, all while fighting for their lives against bloodsucking enemies who attack from the shadows. Even with a vampiric Shakespeare and King Arthur on their side, can Stanza and Jonah win an eternal war between ancestors and descendants for possession of a heaven stolen by sin?
