43 A good one and thanks so much for joining us tonight or what I hope addressing the unprecedented health care crisis in this country. we're gonna do tonight is I'm gonna chat for a little going on in Washington. what I think should be going on in Washington and then separately and then together three of the outstanding of the United States Alexandria Cortez they will suffer. Engaging a together and I wanted them on the this virtual town meeting they represent different parts of the country to hear from them. What's going on communities We should go tree, so I'm very appreciative tonight that we grandson who is gonna provide some Eddie music as we the program along this is I think everybody knows moment in a. History that life has ever experienced dealing with dual prices. We're dealing with a crisis in terms of the Corona virus, which is spreading all over our country has over the world. I'll kill many millions of people out of the world and we are with economic meltdown pharmacy significance impacting the world and bring her own company. Let me begin by saying from my goal tonight is Patterson. I think the last thing I can people wanted to some kind of partisan attack body is worried everybody is concerned and they wanna know where we come here, but I do have I do have to say that really stunned you'd aspects of the rebel built that has been passed not gonna go any place things the Democratic Caucus opted for a second but it is a belief that in the midst of terrible crisis that we have a Republican bill that we give the problem. Administration a blank check to hand out corporate welfare virtually any Corporation in America without effect workers in this country obviously is not gonna, but that is what they're coming and right now we again unbelievable. I'm more than familiar with all agreed and the power of love, but we're putting their life to protect the American people, the corporate lobbyist who are working overtime in order to receive special benefits corporations and let me just a few examples. So you'll understand how. Volga some of going on is we're hearing along which is they want a 50, but they are talking about how they protect workers in that industry. I'm talking about this is quite amazing the private space industry. Remember this is the myth of a Corona biochemical. The privacy industry is requested five billion dollars to benefit people like phase and other billionaires the can. Again crisis in with millions of people and it gets sick, many why the candy in the candy industry align for a five million dollars benefit the lights of our family and you know this family that has one of the wealthiest families and worked very hard to reduce for the rich. They're in line the hotel industry wants hundred and 50 billion dollars and by the recipients of that Bell out would be the Trump family the National Association of Fractures who wins. Up down factories in America moved to China move to Mexico all with the working people in this country, their online man there, they had their lobbyist that they want one point four trillion dollars in assistance and obviously that is sounding to me and I think the American apparently the greed of these people have view and I think when people are United, we need which benefit the families of the lowing people that then. Vulnerable We're not the law entrust with that. let me say a word the health care crisis in terms of what we have got to do one of the I find astounding is and it speaks volumes about the personality and the absurdity of the current health care system. One might think that at a time and win a thousand dollars from a woman and so much as the people are one might think. It would be prepared for an intern sure that our medical professionals, our doctors, our nurses and other people who are in day-to-day contact both struggling with on a virus think that they would have the that they need that they have the goals they need that they were protected gowns they need in their jobs. The truth is I think many of our they have that medical equipment and right now we are seeing in this Green in and around the world medical professionals sick of their exposed. Virus and this is not only a tragedy for the doctors and the other medical profession it is ending situation or outreach if our doctors and nurses and are unable to provide the care we just we need at this moment who's gonna be there to protect the millions of people are sick, who is saying that if the President has gotten utilized in an extremely subway that the fact that production acts. Is that the predator right a priority caught instead of mango T shirts or where or socks, not exact what we need now in the midst of this crisis, you will start production in terms of so in terms of gloves in the other medical profiles need another some in the private sector. Some companies already making that transform and the adequately for the work, but what we need spirits that the United States alone. I'm not talking to the world our country. May need a minimum of hundreds of millions because they will you don't reuse them a mask and gloves and gowns in order to get through Demick. What mental the United States must hell Various is you're gonna song which are producing today. We need you to produce the products set out. There's a nurses or personnel in addition, getting making sure that our physicians and nurses have equipment they need to protect them so that they can protecting the American people. Trump must order the immediate a ventilator I. You units caskets and the agents needed to process that's will be behind in all of those they're apparently developed results in lower enormously important, but we don't wanna do is have filled up with people who do not have the virus. We wanna make sure that a day for the people who need them and wrap processing of these terribly important so on an emergency basis, we've gotta get this done. They got to get the process on and we need to move on this as equally as we can for them. Must be available of Mobile medical units. that means if I don't have beds that they the ICU unit there should be units alongside the hospitals and I suspense admission can in that bottoms here is that we are facing an unprecedented medical crisis We precedented risk and penalize all of the tools that he has to protect the American people second when he sits on. On the congresswoman and that is to talk about the impact of the epidemic, VR experience, nobody can predict the economic fallout of the epidemic is, but we all that is gonna be there have been estimates that with an employment in this country but might be as high as 20 estimate coming from the Federal Reserve in Saint Louis, suggesting that by June but rate maybe even 30 percent and that is on top of. That the stock market has massive losses. Many many are worried about what very many will like all suggest what we make and hopefully nobody knows we're looking at the worst economic downturn since the 19 thirties and in the midst of only this health care crisis, But the economic turn the United Country, the President of its must in an unprecedent. Unprecedented way in a way that needs of the working leads the Middle East the low income people in the treat, the moderate people in this country, our dry now stop. We have no history for this is what we've got to do now. We've gotta make everybody in this field confident that be protected as this and look bad example, kind of problems that we are dealing with from an in the Washing post this afternoon since cold Cane lost her job as a hostage stage. Tris Monday, but the Chronos will she can't think about it, first or mortgage and comments means works at Panera, which is still open for tech in their small town of Lebanon. Vania by Bill has been slow making the fearful for the family has and two car end of quote suspending mortgage payments for three months, be the biggest impact life. King's dead end of quote again who have a family. A wife lost a husband may lose job. They got luggage payment coming up on April first and caught payments on cause that is their reality and what happens if they have New England. What happens are they gonna be able to keep this an example? There are millions of last nights ago. We talked to a representative of the restaurant. I think of it and talking about millions of workers who living on two or three bucks an hour on tips on wages and then they go. On top of that, these people have nothing in the Bank happens when they lose their job. What happens the 40 percent who do not have $400 in the Bank emergency so half of our country living paycheck to paycheck suddenly those paychecks how they gonna feed them. How gonna they gonna keep their telephones having to keep their life? Watch their kid get sick? How about that? so they enormous economic anxiety can place all us this Just very brief on what other countries in response to the crisis of the United Kingdom, Denmark and Norway, these countries are moving wrestling to guarantee 70 - five percent in a hundred percent of the paychecks of workers in businesses that commit to not length employees in other words in one of those countries, if an employer says Okay on the payroll government is guaranteeing between 80 percent hundred percent of that, and in my view, that is what This country right now is that statement of course it is, but they are unprecedented times and we must spend whatever it takes to be a family in America is whole is not made desperate by this it is my view that work who are unemployed regardless of his eligibility, ployment an important point because right now, unbelievable most workers on the unemployment compensation, and we gotta throw that out of the door and all that every. You are we are a waiter whether you're a so-called every worker needs to know that he or she able to reach their income up to 70 - $5000 a year in addition to that we need to provide $2000 a month every month a payment to every man woman in America until the Christ on some of my Republicans are talking about GJ $1000 payment we Leadership of two or three weeks, and what's after that once it's us identify in American history, We must act in an unprecedented no matter what it is, And that means that every man woman in this country that we will let them hold. they're not gonna lead them out. Hang losing their getting a bid from their losing their ability to communicate for the need to sure worker in America and medical, not just the 20 percent. who aren't really have that benefit again the only major country guarantee paid family and medical is beyond pathetic this crisis we have to make do work when they are sick. They are fear of losing that paycheck that is in and that is supposed to be done. Furthermore, we must meet them that I'm talking about apply to everyone in this country regardless of immigration and they must apply to tribal communities as well. That's Puerto Rico and the territories those people who are are documented. This is the time to play stupid. We are all in this together in my view on top of what I worry very much about this crisis impact on the health care benefit ordinary Americans. Now everyone knows that I am a former I mean every other country guaranteed all people, but right now at the very. What we should be doing thing to those workers, the Middle who are losing their job. You know what relax you and you're gonna have health care. We're gonna expand Medicare to you. Now. That means changes in Medicare now does not cover the needs of children. We have to change, but I want every worker in the stand that he she and their families covered when they lose a top of that. if you have private insurance, five deductible with Medicare. Those needs that you don't have to pay the expenses more we need to protect state cities right now, it's tax revenue is up. We are seeing States and cities who may not be able to make payrolls several weeks and that the municipal and state employees, but is asked of everybody because the state and municipal are the people the services that in the midst of this crisis, so they must be a significant amount of are going the dates and the city and one approach is to have the federal. Act aggressive forcefully to buy Short-term municipal debt season This will help stabilize element finances and provide States and cities with the financial support they need to address the health and economic. crisis You an outline of some of the basement go on for an hour after hour with all that has in this crisis, which is impacting single luxury. we have got to be mindful of the vulnerable people in this tree right there. Elderly people home alone and they're worried they're gonna get the food that they need. how are people gonna make sure that all of us Christian the housing the quarter the sickness of life that we all knew this pandemic so that means among the other things expanding meals on wheels program which delivers meals to it means expanding the school program. If you are not in school now, how are they gonna get the nutrition? they don't make sure that kids are adequately Fed crisis. It means extending the snap program bottom line here, it means richest country three of the world in this crisis. Nobody in America goes hungry and talking about the homeless. I'm talking about the December. I'm talking about a country. Furthermore, what it means is putting auditorium on evictions on bushes and utility shelves and suspending payments on rent and mortgage loans for primary residences means also restoring utilities who have had. Later on in this Congresswoman receded to leave of Detroit Saint situation, thousands of households with no running water. Yeah America with this country, there are people who do running war telling everybody wash your hands. 10. We gotta make sure that in America has basic utilities. Good morning very much that we have been system is country's state prisons, which are all this is horrible things happening there. They feel that you don't get our act together. we could think I said in those prisons, we have to make sure that affecting those people and we also have to make protecting the homeless last point that I wanna make the introduce our guests is that we everything we can to stop the prophet. Hearing that some corporate interest on our engaged there that the cost of rubber gloves is now soaring because people understand his demand for them, they can charge any price. They want my mamacita industry, the most corrupt begin with already seeing how they make profits right now in the midst of a crisis, so the word would go out. and if Trump can't do it and I doubt that he can cause must do it and no. When we there's a nurses when we sit, we have when we see people putting their lives and when we have teachers doing everything they can't kids continue to get the idea when we're seeing millions of people doing the right in this crisis, we accept prophet and greed and an individual people in the missus not and I don't think on this but Congress who the right thing we must be on so let me just conclude biking. Body with us and what we're gonna do because the thing to do but the technological limitations were on the with some from the artist grandson. we thank Rich for helping us out tonight and after we hear from grandson, we're gonna come back and we're gonna hear from I believe the first one we're gonna hear from his Alexandria's. Then we heal from Omar from Minnesota and then Rashida to leave Michigan. That's the order page, but I would like so let's not hear the Sun for a few minutes and. We're back with Congresswoman Alexandria Casio Cortez then after each of the members of Congress speak, we're gonna open our discussion very much for being with us. now we'll hear from grandson. What's going on my name is Jordan Music under the name Grayson and I'm proud to see Senator Sanders for President of the United States How did we get? here and where do we go First? I was through the fear but in our lord. I told me. Cup of fence maybe tell me how we get here and are we? I'm looking. at my store neighbor, said Just to stay alive talking about change based of time. And where the hell we go, I was floating. Where the hell up? I was. born. I'm gonna be in between or like can we just do one segment so you can just start it. From the Bronx New fans, I think with us tonight, of course, thanks for having me and I'm doing well Vermont. so I mean today this is what we're seeing so many of these issues today with the skill is just complete me a public service we're supposed to hear the helpful and what Mitch McConnell, the Republicans in the Senate was just corporate to hand a blank, check Trump and the grit with her dolling money out too. And then they're just slapping name. Corona vibe on top of it. This build is not formally. and what we really need to focus on as you mentioned the into this mess, the average American most most American about or rather large, Brown Americans had less than $400 saved a 40 percent of American $1000 saved in emergency now all of a sudden higher country is experienced shock at once with surging and today, the Saint Louis initial in Saint Louis just announced that we may see up to 30 percent unemployment rates at the The Great Depression. We saw 24 percent unemployment, so this is something of anything that we have earned. Theme so the two main things you need to do equity. one is the need to get money into the hands of working everyone who's at first of all the enemies to be universal and unconditional. There are folks that wanna apply a means test to make it based on how much money you made in 2000, it says lived feel life as we just are salary year after year in the same way that every other experience like that, it, we all know that that's just not true just two years ago If someone was going off of 18 income, it will be a backup and to realize life does. A year and and so that we need to make sure that we're too everybody immediately to do is to and been able successful this in New York, you know you may know Bernie and running in New York, right is shaping up to be the epicenters of this Christ are the largest city leads very densely populated lands it and also and we are having of cases throughout and I have several hospitals in my trick. I have owner's hospital. I have I have Jacob Center. New York Presbyterian We have multiple and these are hospitals that working people, they serve a population population and believe what Corona virus has done taken as poured gasoline. every slow romance that we have been experiencing the United and just set it higher for everyone. Alright. So now you have folks who are afraid to go to the House because contagious they're afraid to go to the House. They don't know how much the building to go and get treated and that of question because they don't want to get they they they are this treatment if they're insured or under insured. now you have. The entire whole blown through as to why employment should be a three why you have health care or not or what your health care status should be based on your employment and not just whether you have insurance or quality of care or not being dependent on employers, we have talked about how health created and right and these are we need Medicare for all. This is one case study why this is so important, so we have to make sure that we're taking that we're getting money in also halting money out mortgage rent. Should wanted until people can get on their feet for them, and we need to make shots that people are continuing to get fleeced or or being targeted by predatory lenders as well. And so you know because Trump has essentially leadership of this each individual governor we have more cushion where there's also the solutions are kind of chipping away state. So what we've been able to accomplish State of New York is secure a mortgage moratorium and in a victim. Moratorium eviction and foreclosure moratorium that's welling bud, but if you're going to pass a mortgage mortgage out also passed rent moratorium. What you mean is that you are providing relief to people largely as at least something if New York based class and that you're providing higher release to people who landers or landlords and one thing that we and I'm currently is that I've been and making sure that we push into more before April first for the first of the month whenever we do, we're in. Things about that I'm hoping that we're able this done in the night because it's gonna traditionally a student loan debt is another is is another massive amount of out to people that we all thought that is something totally within the federal government. most people we add for cancellation of student loan debt even just pressing the pause button is something that you could snap your and do tomorrow a political will and if we had a White House that careful so that's something that we have to make sure put the political pressure but again all of these. the reason we are here at in this crisis is hitting go hard is because one of the worst. World less than a living wage to eight shame urge amount of workers estates faith is not guaranteed, and we have to make sure people have basic and it was little rights. All of these things are contributing factors as just hitting us art, but then you've got economic piece layer on race and immigration, and you see that how they can get even worse. I represent New York's fourteenth Congressional discovers the Bronx and Queens, and it is Rikers Island. Now we will Justice reform, Avery long and Decarceration policy. One thing that we need to do is is fast forward on Progressive development, pursuing decarceration because people's lives are at risk. There are people now in in situation, completely destined and wrong right now, so many people crammed into into certain cells in right and 20 -. One individuals have altered positive for coveted 90. Those are who have able to get tested and as we know are very limit the Are already exhibiting quite extreme and quite extreme symptoms, so we have no idea this outbreak is going out, so there are a lot of things that we're asking for we need to provide early clemency. There are plenty of people on Rikers, 60 - 790 years quite care of them in a cage in Rikers Island and imprisoned species. We need to ensure you're granting elderly United States. We need stop unnecessary pre-trial detention in the United States, stop arrest senses and a Have started pulling out some of these reforms actually a fascinating progress moment because what it shows is that all of the issues have never been about. It's never about acidic things or if the logistics have worked out all of these excuses that we have been given as to why we cannot treat humanely have gone up in smoke when it has been revealed is that all of these were really about a lack of political will and who you deemed worthy to be urgency, but because to me, Indiana New York City highest rates since the Great Depression has been agency for a very long time and we have had to have been for housing as a human right long time now that we are everybody who's uncertainty of a. Everyone's real weight we are in this together and so that applies just to issues of economic prosperity path. It also applies a criminal Justice of of human right and on the Latino, one of the things that I also rent is local airport and about could go I was called by Organization and that they're that were young children being supported into New York City Middle of a Corona virus break and just call on and I was asking you go to. Right now, so we hop in a rush to LaGuardia Airport and I just took all of my congressional credentials with me and I just waited elsewhere, families out of the airport and I waited I saw an ice Asian about six with him and that's when we started to realize that, meanwhile, while the Pentagon has paused domestic travel for the Mary, while everyone has worked from home while we all we were, then on the brink of instituting a shelter. Policy you still have ice across and not only that, but there are immigrant detention centers that are being used attention because they are because the government argues that they are that they're entitled to less rights than the rest of consequence is to be your own hunger strikes in Jersey. At least you have folks who are also starting to order their own strike that they are not facilities. They are not going to their paper assignments, which would have mandatory leader where prisoners are are paid slave wages So, you know we see how all these issues, social and economic are cohead and we can move through this and if we handle this right it handled this with bold leadership be moved through this and make sure the bullish these systems Justice abs of clap basic from a system that centers people and working class and you know with that. I'm just gonna hand it off as that's just our port from New York and I'm sure that that there are a lot of other issues or be. in Minnesota so much Omar will represent and we can the system that centers people represents the Minneapolis area in Minnesota there. I'm sure that other issues are being experienced in Minnesota. I thank you folks to Omar, who represents the Minneapolis Minister's people they represent the Minneapolis. how are you how are you i'm doing nothing sandria act speak so um are um in scam and how in this particular ah we will fill up or for bully po uhm as you know a i let and effort by the get one uhm common security departments all the make sure that these are um Doing that they can and to the spread of the the violent and making sure that we have opportunity for people willing to the the Chrono as many of the issues I've been working on have been really believed in this view and Sandra there are few things I wanted to to Heights. Thank you for giving us this conversation. it's really important. I think as you look at you know how you're and what makes our our competitor time. Absolutely is because we have a neglect critical issues and we haven't them for for many years, the the lack of income in becoming quality that exists is now being excited through this, this says you know, and it is so just in case there was behind hundred about A hundred thousand applied for an implement insurance. They were saying just in few days it went from. Three percent to six percent makes sense, the kind of estimates that being made about going up to 30 percent, some point we could have cuz we know that there are so many people that are unemployed and underemployed because we also know there are so many Americans who are shackled with students. so my out of I let her try to make sure that it's next package include a cancellation of debt because we certainly don't want. People making a gym about whether they should feed their themselves and and make it this not making a payment or their student debt. It's really important in this particular we are thinking about of as you said. you know we make sure that our not a big people that there is support for our paying rent and not as Alexandria said about clad just only worrying about the mortgage or have an art car payment that they have to make, but we had full as probably the. Will talk about who are faced Wilty is being cut off so whether it's a protection against that, my state is doing in trying and see that whiskey calls one that universal emergency pay out of a tellers to each adult and $500 $500 to every single child. we wanted to make sure that to the kind of impact we want it to have for it not to be tied to of income that like be means means test try to make sure that everything person. In this country, get that relief and get it now as asking the Treasury and the Social Security Department the IRS and social security went through the day to be able to pass that we also heard from our Christmas here in Minnesota who are struggling right now. I small that essentially makes their money from wedding they are committed to trying to a pay their. But they will have em and so we introduce the app the app Apple, which is the chief Bell out so they can have the to be able to do everything now and have the government making reimbursed for their lost wages. I think in in time we have to one together and realize that there are sneak people across the country. They're they. Are people who work in our store restores it is the people at our House and clinics 30 people at the police departments or firefighters any of our frontline workers people who are working in remotely from our offices every single Christian doing on the clock to fight to make sure that begins have the information that they need that they're kidding themselves safe and formed is is received the kind of gratitude that they deserve is within I don't think we will have the the care. Arguments go back and and have a conversation leadership. I think it's gonna be legal and for us make sure that there is no pricing of benefit corporations but Bell out Fuckers wear out out for those who are vulnerable in our communities to make sure there's an accident of health care option of an influence and expansion of creative and of protection for for many of our communities making we have a plan. In place who are homeless and those who are vulnerable out in communities and making sure that this administration is being held accountable for any mistakes in trying to this this virus and giving out the proper environment for for the country to the kind of prepareness that would have really the kind of Christ now, I recently talked to health care. Provided in my opening that they operating with two weeks in two weeks behind and so any of the learn about those that are being that those are the positive if any of the short plot all of those things are really not true actual this crisis. I've even stood that the kids will have economy on our communities and so make sure that any seeds that we propose any kind of advocacy who this is run. In in the fact that this going to be than what we know, it's important for us not to panic but it's also unfair us to be honest with the American people and and make sure we are working together and move forward and and propose make propel puzzles are going to be just and and take care of everyone We I want to say that there are ways that communities are showing up for one another. I know that many people. In my disc are showing up for people in nursing homes who are isolated right now by doing this and and following their tempted to stay connected with people, I know that he my community are the libraries that they into food in their people. That act says. I know you can't stand a lot of work in in trying to raise money so that communities have support in our campaign is utilizing resources to do community Check Ins Wellness Check ins with people I know in this particular time we can all be very creative. use the resource we have and and use them in a way that is positive impact on on everyone around us and as lawmakers we have believed and make sure that for people are vulnerable in our communities like. What you're doing for your being with us this evening and last, but certainly not least is Congresswoman Reta from Michigan and represents the Detroit area where she died. Yay. Oh, my son wanna say hi, I still I'm homeschooling Bernie. I'm holy well, everybody quietly okay. So I'm really glad cuz I think it's really important that folks need to know and have a human family have around because I think the disconnect sometimes in Congress so real it worked at Non-profit Organization who's trying to go to Lansing and all these different local governments telling people know we're in Survivor mode or the Corona virus and you know and I know my grazing colleague miss them so much I missed. and so I already wear unemployment at a hundred and eight thousand application again. I think during the great, it was like 70 - 7000 up 20 most of our survivor mode, so I already have lack of two health care to their waiting. So I'm I am talking to many folks that understand that so we must be aggressive, all know and give and inclusive so important that we're as inclusive as possible and we're picking winners and losers and It's like a test or anything like that we were making a disservice to them, so the governments must be that would look like as I to a proposal called dramatic Boost to Communities Act or some people are calling midpoint and really important because it would recently lift people out of the situation or instantly with $2000 and then when there's every month for a year, What one thing that I know, improvisers and folks listening do not set a time payments do not set a one time kind of approach that we need to understand going to be a whole year again people in origin. Your time and as well as all of us in Congress to try to put a get a human face to that and one of the things that we we have 3000 now in Detroit and I can tell you even though they said over the moratorium and everything they only put out people about 200 to 300 people's water back what that people wash their hands, but people did revolved barrels of water to take to people's homes. They have children. Some are afraid to come forward because they know if the people they don't have water that be taken away tomorrow. this is the reality of fire mode and why it's so that we have attached to any kind of approach that we have in trying to look at property Critically that when we talk about small business that we also talk about local events, their employers too them. These are those that the lives of our lobby than the federal. These are our townships folks at our first free CPE and masks in our water as well, not because they have water sharp, but because they need things to be able to surf folks because when they call me everybody has to respond and Senator former Mexican that we have some sort of approach for our local government still to. I will support a expand the federal Bank, which they already have authority now to immediately purchase municipal debt. thanks all the time Bank needs to wake up child needs to advance they call to our local economy. they all the time for corporate folks again. These are responders are folks on the ground. We need to be lifted up and truly inspired by all the people that you should see people argue delivering groceries to their neighbors. not only today the butter board and all these waters the kids today delivering water to people's homes, but they're also. Visiting talking to folks again in the guidelines of social distancing, but really checking up on each other and had firing to see that divide in our country, all real and we're feeling now but with me representing the third course special district we've already been living it And Green has showed facing as we try to help parties during this endemic that can see to really organize a stories again these humans of what it's like to to choose corporations people to tomorrow much of my campaign, my team a lot of efforts to Rock Michigan Restaurant Opportunity Center of Michigan. My restaurant restaurant small business you have to admit doors had to close down neighbors and serve workers that desperately need help. So we're shifting a lot of again using creative me, not just relying obviously making form it works for people speak even our own resources and I have to do it. This is the time in our country. That's pretty horrible and very if we do nothing to out so let's really bail out people, let's send her around people cannot exist without these folks that are grocery stores. Our farm for our community folks, I mean our health care workers absolutely on the front line, but a lot of the other folks articulated enacted to that. tell me she got off in a long and she couldn't find any eat after helping people during this crisis again, all of it is so interconnected to other. so we need to really be able to agree of aggressive and inclusive effort and I came all enough. I am sitting here trying to triage and Alexis Ohanian and Senator Sanders know you get these calls. Imagine almost like a ER who's gonna go get the groceries who's. How can I get Ernie? I had to get this for one of mister care agencies in Inkster who could ask for infants from infants sold this happening again. If you wanna see and I said to everybody, you wanna see what doing enough like you come to my district and I will show specifically what the human impact is, But now everybody is sensing it everybody's economic divide and what it really resulting in what it's face looks like once again as we, you know, mint the coin puzzles a local government assistant really really uplifting Lexus do and and My sister, Ariana and pushing back with folks in our prisons all across the country. he really need all about their became the drum. You are an extension of our members of come. You all give us credibility when we're dreaming and saying this is not off to McConnell. you all are in the best. Let me tell you what it's not going to work and so it is corn is fuller listening in who are so much part of what we're doing and so much so connected that we're doing and I thank you. Senator Sam asking me to be part of this and share. My team and I have been working really hard on and what frontline communities like my district strong is experienced during the stomach. Thank you so much and thank you. Thank you. Andrea. I don't frankly, don't know where to begin. There's so much to discuss. let me just start off with something that we should be in touched on this, but what can this crisis before we talk about that policy can ordinary be to help their neighbors? Some of the things I'm doing. what are you seeing other people? you know it moment. It is very the same time as we see this ugly agreed. we see the best people putting their lives on the line literally other people when we saw what are you seeing in your community? What are people doing? Yes? So I'm I'm so glad you asked point next question Bernie because there are things that we to make our life better immediately Last week, My campaign hosted an organized on how to set up a network in neighborhood you know in our city, it could be building floor black if you're Street and what did was that we. Held you know, we brought thousands of people onto a call and people ended up in mutual aid that really means is set up a network between your neighborhood meeting other their needs and whether they're material they're tiny whether they're based and right now building or if you live block, you can make and say I help you out. You can say what that help is or you need to help and one of them and that helps us you know process and really into each other's aid with trying to just wait on Mitch McConnell to and so don't waste that you can help. Each other things that you can provide you can offer chair to it to a trusted neighbor. If your neighbor trust, they have to work from them, You can offer child care you knock on an elderly neighbor's door to the doors. You don't have to order and ask if you go grease for them and make sure that you don't have to expose them to unnecessary results. So next time you go to store one is you can get anything or if they can just give your grocery If you may just give you their grocery list and their payment you can also just. Check up on people how they're doing see if they're okay and the people you know our baby and diabetes creates an immense amount of isolate and that is only exacerbated in the months to come so make sure that we are finding socially connect with one another, even if we cannot be physically present, fall incredibly important and so anyone that's interested to my website across your Cortez dot com be on on a past events of the Larry organized Mario Mario Cabo. Organized and help let us lead us such as how you conduct mutual aid, but the history the important political story will aid spans across the United and and our history. And so that's something that I would say is is an extremely way that we can organize in and make it better immediately. Thank you. Sandra Elon. Did you wanna answer that there are couple of things? I mentioned earlier I I think that no turn. That the head libraries into temporary mini is a great, many of us have perishable foods that we might be yourselves or might have the resources in some extra stuff and so putting that out for people in your head who might not want to come or have the ability to go to the local or wait in line and can utilize another really this way up for. Hunting meeting is something I think that Alex turned a little helping babysit for one another. There are front line of hers. people are working in our grocery store taking extra because the need is higher by people who are working at hospitals whether it is a nurse or that every single person in our hospitals and clinics an extra time and so if you are able signing up for a shift care for anyone, those children, that's helpful I I was. Moved and seeing some people in in my district really engage with elders through life chat and having that ability because we many of our elders in care settings to getting visitors they they're used to having an interactive people pretty mostly isolated. Some of them might not have family and so having someone communicate with them a few hours a day. Hopeful us to continue to get installation together also really good for people's mental health for people who are used to seeing and going out and being with an elderly person who desperately needs. the interaction is really important. we can with our veterans and in the VA and and find creative ways to set up inside you know particular times really going important for us to show up for another campaigns, you know I I ask. Many of our our colleagues have been running for real to utilize their wishes asking their campaign staff and volunteers do community gems to their situations and they surf not just where the phone calls who called themselves and see going. We're doing we're starting with elders in district. How can you can start want? and I think out there that are thinking about ways that they can help that they can sign up to to volunteer to make calls and and Utilize as you losing money for important or they can send up to about here with with our champion that they are helping do some of those community check ins and have stations with with people now. if I know so we're watching the TV and hearing the constant updates will will something to to your Psychic being a conversation with someone is going to be important and so I I hope that people. Use this time break from that and find an opportunity at someone out there and and engage them in a conversation. that is just about being hopeful tomorrow that we will ultimately get passed it and we will do it together. Alright Ellen Thanks so much appreciate it. Do you want two words? Senator. I think it's really in some swish others when you can and they've done it different ways. I know my neighborhood where I grew up born and raised in Detroit and we're pretty brilliant but every corner district has been doing some cools like having their kids. There's like a list of all the senior living place trick and they're right having the kids to vary the at the places to be able to engage hi Annie and that I also love is low mayors and township supervisor put a list together of small business are still doing delivery things like that to kinda support them as well. I think I really love one neighborhood in southwest chose the time I think it was like everybody, I said, go out on their porch wave to each other. I actually broke down in tears because I was just so beautiful people got up on their porch, probably would never done something for the natural. you know epidemic. you have to acknowledge you cry all the time right, but it was beautiful. Senator. It's so beautiful because there was just a really there's compassion is coming out and just watching them all the way to each other. That was Super incredible, but those are the kinds of things I think of our country. we we're strong. We're loving all those things that doesn't seem to shine with the current administration. Shine, which is being made in DC that again is so incredibly disconnected with what's happening in our communities. Now you all know why the young of Congress have helped transform this country and I'm glad everybody has a chance as I have for the last many many months months, they are so great. so so smart so courageous that has been a pleasure for me to have work with them and they could be a great great job. So let me thank. Andrea Hill and achieving with me tonight, Let me thank all of you out there. I think it's a great discussion. I think her ideas now on nervous, they're isolated and anything that we can breastfeed level. Take people know they're not alone. in this crisis is a huge step forward. so members of Congress. Thank you what can people thank you? We'll see you soon. Thank you all bye. Bye. Thank you Bye. Having having tour Across America and across the world. Now across America and across the world and connected with thousands of people of all different ages and all different, I've really began to uncommon. our and our struggles are of us are going through the same Aunty with what we're gonna do when we're with how we're going to afford the medication that we need how we're going to make change. I think that understanding that problem that one of us is facing is a problem for all of us. only way we're going to tackle these these huge generational problem fence. so I think the slogan. it can be a place but before it's just that any of us going through anything is all of our responsibility gonna do one more song and it couldn't be more relevant through today and office. This is a song called. We'll never get free. blood. the blood in the water. Look me tell me everything's not fine. You thought you could go free, but the will never get free. When didn't know. Thank you. for another. I accept your free. What do you gonna do? What you gonna do. The people I am I am the right trees falling won't solve it.
