For our neighbors across the hill in Wrightwood, California, Silverwood Lake State Rec Area or City of Hesperia. SR-138 will be closed between Interstate 15 and Summit Valley Road on Wednesday, March 7th at 6:00 a.m. until Saturday, March 17th at 6:00 a.m. The closure is necessary to complete pavement realignment work.The realignment will remove several curves and steep grades reducing the three-mile stretch by one mile. The project also includes constructing outside shoulders, three bridges, and three wildlife crossings.
Hail forms when updrafts in thunderstorms carry raindrops upward into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere, allowing the raindrops to freeze. The stronger the updraft, the bigger the hailstone can become before falling out of the storm.
