"When measured against the standards of a good scientific theory, modern evolutionary biology clearly qualifies as good science. Ongoing debates within evolutionary biology exist about mechanism, rates, and causes, but not over whether evolution occurred."

Evolution is a scientific theory supported by evidence found in many places. The fossil record is one of them.

I'm from Sweden (explain my English ). In my country most Christians believe in theistic evolution. But believers is in a small minority. The most people is ag...nostic or believe in science. The main reason for this is the theory of evolution. The evolution theory is also the main reason why Christians leave there faith.
I grew up as an atheist, but became a Christian at age of 17.
I have been interested in this topic of origin in all my life. I was introduced in YEC but can not feel comfortable with that theory "all the way". On other hand I dont feel comfortable with the evolution theories "all the way", so for the moment I have made my own theory as a mix of the two theories. The creationists don't like my theory so I hope you are more open here for discussion. Theistic evolution and Intelligent Design is more closer to my heart. And I see no conflict between Christian faith and science.

I ponder the big questions a lot. I was brought up Catholic and have that kind of background for seeing the world, but I'm also extremely logical and a hard bel...iever in facts and science. EVOLUTION IS REAL. What's particularly hard about living this way is I have often found myself feeling a tension between these two parts of my brain. I can't ignore science, but I also am pretty sure there was an original creator of some kind.

Biologos and the wonderful people that write for them have been a Godsend. (pun intended)

Great resource for articles and other media, it has really helped me understand that Genesis and other creation narratives in the Bible have to be read as an a...ncient Israelite would have understood them (I thank Michael Heiser and John Walton specifically with that). This page also deals with the questions that obviously arise when accepting evolutionary theory and history with a Christian worldview in a great manner as well. I used to be a Young Earth Creationist, but it's from groups and individuals such as those from Biologos that have shown me a more true way to read the Bible and have a more accurate way to view God's inspiration and revelation. I'm Orthodox, and the Orthodox church doesn't have a position on the origins debate, as with most other non-vital issues. Biologos is a good resource for those ...that believe Genesis 1-11 as well as Job and other parts of the Bible are not meant to give a history of the natural world. The Bible isn't a science textbook. Biologos do make a few mistakes here and there, but nothing too egregious that I would warn anyone to stay away.

Biologos and Francis Collins helped me with my faith, I recommend Biologos to anyone who is in conflict with evolution and holy scripture. I can only say that Biologos for me has not just only reaffirmed, but also strengthened my belief in the creator.

Plants and animals created by God in fully developed states which have capability to adapt, change, alter and evolve within the fabric of their genetic code mak...es a lot of sense in even our science minded world. That is the majority creationist view. What makes absolutely no sense at all in the rational mind is nature taking a glob of bacteria over lots of time for it to become complex life as we see it today full of beauty, design, organization, purpose etc. Macro Evolution if you will from a common decent was invented because science had no place for God and miracles. Now biologos is trying to bring miracles in through the back door while allowing for the unproven ideas of macro evolution from common decent to stick around which was again thought up because God was not allowed in the lab! Makes no sense.

Since we are here on this earth in our solar system, in a galaxy of one out of millions where energy abounds and since something cannot come from nothing, we must simply welcome our Creator with open arms and stop fooling ourselves into thinking that only nature thru matter, energy and time developed complex life.

Listen to this one: Once i was shown a "proof" how flight evolved where a ground reptile gained wings. It goes like this: The reptile runs up a branch flapping its arms to escape a large reptile. It gets eaten. All of a sudden feathers formed on some of these flappers who also were attempting to escape in the same manner and this helped to offer advantage of escape up that branch thus the evolutiion of the bird. I thought to myself, first of all, feathers are complex and to suggest that these appeared via mutation is ludicrous. I then thought about how the middle stages of feathering onto that reptile would be more likely unhelpful and more likely a hindrance in general ground escape for reptiles who would normally never flap their arms but rather use them to run on the ground or up a branch and would therefore select out and not into the reptile population.

An even better example of evolution imploding would be surrounding the evolution of the human body. A heart without lungs cannot function, a brain without the existance of kidneys is dead. A stomach without an esophogus doesnt get food and the body dies. Evolution combined w the concept of irreducable complexity as described really implodes on itself. Just as a few feathers on a dino magically appearing but being a hindrance and not a help causes evolution to implode...so evolution implides when considering the concept of irreducable complexity that can make no sense of survival of an only partially formed body.

Anyway, as i thought about these things i had the most interesting of impressions: models like the one about the evolution of the bird mentioned which so many evolutionists use to explain their far out hypothesis have now gotten so bold as to instead giving these models authority of proving it! I asked an evolutionist proof for the evolution of the bird and that model they shared was the proof! The model used to explain was now evidence That is what i call junk science and until we see one single example in the labratory of cells becoming more complex beyond their genetic capabiliity even under the perfect circumstances, we would do ourselves a great service by admitting that such magnificence in our world points to the Creator who made it and who, in addition, loves us so much that He made a provision for the forgiveness of people by His Son! If the belief of evolution is a hindrance from accepting the idea of this God as Creator, then i encourage us all to instead of trying to mix naturalistic evolutionism and God (which dont mix well at all ), try repenting of what amounts to nothing more than a belief system called evolutiion indoctrinated into many of our minds by smart but not so wise or rational teachers over the years and trust in God who created plant and animal types with the ability to adapt and speciate our planet! That is the creationist view and i gladly stand with them as not only bearers of truth, but bearers of rational thinking to boot!

It is a shame and a sham that Christian pastors with little understanding of the relevant theoretical issues nonetheless so energetically pronounce on them and mislead the clock thereby.

I too had defended the young earth interpretation of Genesis' creation passage, but in doing so I had to believe that modern scientists disregard their scientif...ic duty in favor of biological evolution. It's a compelling narrative to believe that we Christian underdogs are taking on the anti-God scientific establishment. Then I encountered "Creation and Evolution: Do We Have to Choose?" This book not only demonstrates in layman's terms the scientific research leading to evolution, but also goes into close study of the Genesis creation passage. The main reason Christians vigorously defend young-earth creationism is from insistence that six literal days is the only way to interpret that passage. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Bible describes creation more as a continual process than merely a one-time occurrence. This discovery has allowed me to worship God more fully with my mind, expanding my joy and wonder about our Creator and his interaction with creation. I'm thankful for BioLogos' resources in this regard! See More

Biologos fails to interact with arguments from the creation science and ID communities. Having looked at both sides, I can say that Biologos' criticisms are meant to be condescending and superficial. Anyone familiar with Jon Sarfati or Stephen Meyer would immediately see this.

Brilliant initiative. One of the top 5 apologetics enterprise. However at certain junctures of science and theology, I find their position to be narrow. Especia...lly if theistic Evolution (/Non-darwinian Evolution/Evolution) is true - then the associated Environmental conditions, the Environmental timeline, the natural variation in Earth's climatic system over billions of years, the current environmental scenario and theological interpretation about the same. I grew up believing there was no conflict between science and my faith and had no trouble embracing Theistic Evolution, though I hardly knew this as a phrase. ...However, after serving at a small Fundamentalist Baptist Church, I was taught through AiG Materials that I could not reconcile my faith with this teaching and must embrace YEC. I did so but never comfortably. My husband and older teens are still YEC, and I have moved far away from it after studying and reading so much. The Language of God was an exhilarating read, and I am thankful for this community. I have received much grief for my convictions on this matter alone, and I have even been told I am not a true believer because I accept evolution as God's means of Creation. Glad for the work of BioLogos! See More

A fascinating concept (Theistic Evolution), and while slightly admirable that you attempt to bring God's truth to the world, you make a great and dire mistake b...y not actually sticking to what God's own word actually says. It's self-deception. If you're going to claim that you follow God's word then live up to it. I cannot possibly support such nonsense and compromising ideologies. This comes from an individual who were brought up as a God-hating Atheist Evolutionist who even understood fully well at that time that Evolution and the Bible are definitely not compatible, because they are great opposites to each other - it simply makes no sense. The modern Young Earth Creationism movement already demonstrates clearly how science and faith go together in harmony. See More
