China bases its legitimacy on it's "one-party democracy", an enlightened bureaucracy that develops and manages the country through collective leadership. Its leaders have exchanged power peacefully and avoided becoming the next Mao. If this comes to pass, it spells death for the "China model" as an alternative to Western models of governance.
