Three years ago, we were chosen by your organization to adopt our Rosie. She was eight years old, a puppy mill survivor and in good physical condition. It was senior to senior (we're now ages 84 and... 88) and we had to answer more questions than we did 50 years ago when we adopted our children! She has been a noble addition to our family and we appreciate your decision every day. Love and Prayers, Helen and Herbert Williams, Columbus, Ohio See More

A ban on puppy sales by pet shops and other third-party dealers in England is being considered by the government. Under the new rules, breeders or sellers of dogs must be licensed and will not be able to sell puppies and kittens under eight weeks old.

Puppy buyers in England would need to deal with a breeder or rehousing centre under proposals.

This was originally posted many years ago but is just as appropriate today. Older Bostons still need your help.

My name is PiggySue, and I'm a senior citizen of the Boston world. I'm here to state the case for older dogs in the Rescue program, as I was recently one of them.

Petey Update, April 17, 2017

Just when it seemed all was going well with Petey, his foster mom noticed that everything he sat on was left a bit damp, so she took him back to the vet to investigate. An ultrasound found nothing, nonetheless, he was leaking urine. Obviously, something was wrong and required further attention. The vet started him on Proin (Phenylpropanolamine or PPA) in hopes that the hormone will help strengthen Petey's urinary bladder sphincter muscles. We hope... that will do the job, but it will take about 4-6 weeks to see if the medication will do the job.

In light of recent events, Petey is, unfortunately, not ready for adoption at this time.
We will keep you updated on Petey's health. If you are interested in adopting Petey, please fill out an application and we will inform you when Petey is ready for adoption.

Daisy & Her Puppies - Magnolia - Update, March 24, 2017

Daisy's health continues to improve and we are happy to announce that all her puppies have been adopted!

Magnolia, although much improved, still had an abscess to deal with. This was successfully dealt with while still at the vet. She healed nicely, but it did leave quite a scar on her chest wall, just below the left arm, but healed very quickly. As soon as the abscess healed sufficiently, everyone came in for their fina...l set of shots, returning to their foster home afterwards for a little rest and relaxation. After another week, their adoptive parents arrived to claim the pups.

Magnolia stayed with her foster family for an extra week. She was healing nicely and excited to be adopted.

Now, all that remains is for Daisy to find an adoptive family. That will be a wonderful end to a long, scary and often painful story.

Daisy & Her Puppies Update, March 24, 2017

Daisy's health continues to improve and we are happy to announce that all her puppies have been adopted!

Iris continued to do well and was released from hospital. Magnolia, although much improved, still had an abscess to deal with. This was successfully dealt with while still at the vet. She healed nicely, but it did leave quite a scar on her chest wall, just below the left arm, but healed very quickly. As soon as the abscess healed ...sufficiently, everyone came in for their final set of shots, returning to their foster home afterwards for a little rest and relaxation. After another week, their adoptive parents arrived to claim the pups.

Daisy was taken back to the vet for her spay and a final Parvo check to make sure she wasn't a carrier. Happily, her tests came back negative, but it was a rough spay as it is with most dogs that have been used for breeding for an extended period of time. She was kept overnight for observaion.
Morning came and all was well, so Daisy was picked up by her foster mother and taken home for a much needed extended recovery.

Now, all that remains is for Daisy to find an adoptive family. That will be a wonderful end to a long, scary and often painful story.

New Special Needs Family: Daisy & Her Puppies

Please note: Daisy's photo was taken before she became ill.

Daisy was rescued from a puppy-mill in early January, dirty, sick and pregnant with her second litter at only 18 months old. She was treated with antibiotics and delivered 4 puppies....
Lily, Petunia, Magnolia, and Iris seemed to be born healthy and were returned to their foster home before each little dog began to exhibit signs of the Parvo Virus and had to return to the veterinarian's office. It was found that Mama Daisy is a Parvo carrier. After several days of antibiotics, Lily and Petunia seemed to improve and were sent home, while Iris and Magnolia are still in strict quarantine and are fighting secondary issues.
We will keep you updated on their progress.

BTRN needs your support in order to meet the medical costs incurred in bringing special needs boston terriers back to a healthy condition. Your contributions in any amount would be greatly appreciated
