Today proved to be a major victory in the fight for human rights! Washington joins a growing number of states in outlawing the death penalty. The state's Supreme Court deemed capital punishment as “unconstitutional,” and effectively converted the sentences of eight people on death row.

The death penalty is outlawed in 102 countries and is recognized by organizations, like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, as a human rights abuse.
