A great article by Third Coast Airsoft.
Our team has been going strong for almost 7 years now and can completely agree with their list of potential issues.
1. We typically attend 2-3 national level events every year. We also attend multiple local level events each year (6 in 2017). Where will we be going in 2018? Stay tuned!...
2. Teamwork is critical. We have multi-stage recruiting process to evaluate those coming on to the team to make sure that they are a good fit for us, and we are a good fit for them. While most joining the team do not know any team members when they apply, friendships and bonds are quickly forged. Having a cohesive unit makes things easier on everyone.
3. Practice? Our team normally trains together at least twice per month. We have a training program established by leadership which will not only refine and reinforce skills of our veteran team members, but integrate new team members into the program so that they can work effectively with the group.
4. We limit the size of our team. When full we have 12 core members and 2 reserves. Limiting our size not only allows us to select the best candidates for our team when an opening occurs, but also allows leadership to more effectively manage team operations.
While we do not restrict to specific brands or models, we do have a list of basic required equipment anyone joining the team must acquire prior to the end of their probationary period. This will make them self sufficient and not reliant on another team member to supply their equipment.
We have a specific team member code of conduct which is enforced to mitigate any potential issues on the field or in training. This also sets a clear and defined expectation for our team members.
This all leads to us having a solid group of committed and enthusiastic team members. Presently of our 14 man team, we have an average team member attendance rate of 94.2%.
During the most recent video production, one of our team members suggested that we use a more "upbeat" soundtrack. So... we also made this parody. #becarefulwhatyouwishfor
