Good Late Afternoon Everyone,
The following are the final results from the March 7th election. I would like to congratulate Steve Verez and Ernie Moreno on their victory. I look forward to working with both of them and my new colleagues on the LACCD Board. I also look forward to working with faculty, students, staff, community and all that want to make LACCD better.
Finally, I want to thank my wife Pilar, my three daughters Gabriela, Gema and Paulina for their sacrifice du...ring this campaign.
Good Afternoon Friends and Supporters,
I wanted to take the time to thank all of you for the support over the last few months. We are extremely pleased and proud to let you know that We Won! With 100% of precincts reporting, and with an update from the registrar that occurred earlier today, the following are the results....
Elections, like life are about working together and team work. We had a great team that worked hard. THANK YOU!
We have a lot of work to do in the next few years, and I look forward. Have a great weekend everyone.
ONE MORE TIME
Good Evening Friends and Supporters,
For the past several months, you have supported my campaign to be a Trustee for the Los Angeles Community College Board(LACCD). Tomorrow is Election Day. We are excited about the change we can create to continue making our community colleges the envy of the region....
ONE MORE TIME
I need your help one more time! In order to win, we need your networks on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms to light up with the message supporting my candidacy for Seat 6 of the LA Community College Board. While I am the candidate, this campaign is not about me-- it’s about the change the position can bring that will affect the hundreds of thousands of sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers, friends and neighbors that attend or can attend any of the nine Los Angeles Community Colleges!
You can do this by simply forwarding this message or putting the image below on your Facebook page and “Sharing” with your network. Or, you can text the image below to as many people as possible We ask that each of you try and reach out to at least 100 voters.
In 7 days Los Angeles will have the chance to elect me for Community College Board. It has definitely been a tough road, but I believe that Angelenos are ready for a Progressive member.
Nothing in life is free; however, we can allocate our taxes to education rather than building new prisons and getting nothing in return. Let's continue to pave the way. #YestoGabriel
Higher education is not for sale. By investing in the youth, we would be investing in the future. Student loans have become a burden to millions of students. This is why I fundamentally believe that community colleges should be free for the first two years.
In order to become your Community College Board Trustee, I need your help. Please click on the link below and donate a few dollars. The magic number is $27, but any amount helps. Again, this is not about me, this is about us and the future of our city, state, and country. #YesToGabriel
"Seat 6: We endorse challenger Gabriel Buelna, an ethnic studies teacher at Cal State Northridge and executive director of Plaza Community Services in East L.A... Buelna not only has experience with the district’s graduates entering Northridge, but he has a ground-level view through Plaza Community Services of the challenges many LACCD students face."
Today I received great news. The LA Times has endorsed me. They understand that our community colleges are vital to many Angelenos. Together, we can bring a progressive change and make community colleges tuition-free in Los Angeles.
Thank you everyone for your amazing support. #YesToGabriel
Had a great time at the Culver City senior center. My mother (black and white blouse) also had a great time.
Their stories have taught me the value of education and how empowering it was to them. Because of these stories, I will continue to be an advocate for higher education. It's times like these that I'm thankful for all the support I have received.
