This would be 4-5 stars if not for the concern I am citing below:

I have been paddling on the Buffalo Bayou for years, and love it very much. It is such a unique way to enjoy Houston. However I am ve...ry disappointed in the lack of awareness the tour boat drivers seem to have when sharing the water with canoe and kayakers. They drive around turns at high speeds and do not slow down when passing us, creating huge wakes that could easily put us in the water. The reckless driving seems to occur when it is just them in the boat, so I assume they are going to pick up a tour or heading back to drop the boat off. The Buffalo Bayou Partnership works so hard to encourage people to enjoy this Bayou, it is a shame that a dangerous deterrent to using it is their employees See More

Good to see the park coming back to life. On a walk today: night heron, cormorant, turtles, bats; blooming redbuds, primrose, bluebonnets, prairie verbena, and more. We love BBP.

I wish Lost Lake ha...d better management. Living close by we've watched it struggle so much: algae blooms, floods, etc. The past weeks saw it drained yet again, refilling today, unfortunately causing a mass die-off of fish, including a beautiful large white koi (I assume) we have admired frequently. Perhaps more lake management experience is required for a healthy outcome at Lost Lake? See More

I give it a 3 due to safety concerns of dogs and bikes. I guess that could be many parks but I really like the paths at Buffalo Bayou and would like to be able to share them as intended. The issue I w...orry most with this park is the many dogs on the walking paths without leashes. I witness it nearly each visit. I really enjoy the location and views. Now I like witnessing the progress. I have seen a couple of men patrol the park on golf carts but I'm not sure if they ever speak to dog owners about keeping their dogs on leashes. Owners swear that their dogs are friendly but I've personally witnessed dogs attack people and other dogs. I saw a man kick an unleashed dog that ran up to him too. Some bicyclist are training and seem as if they are speeding by. I took a kid there to ride and it was not a good experience. I almost got hit twice by a bicyclist on that occasion. No more of that for me. I stay on the asphalt now but sometimes people bike there too?? Some bicyclist are good and announce their approach. Most do not. A person can take a step to the side without and warning and could end up being hit. See More

SCI.1.2D Record and organize data using pictures, numbers, and words....
Scientific investigation and reasoning standards

Guiding Question
The student understands that scientists ask questions and use investigation skills to solve problems and find out about the natural world.
1. How does a scientist work?
2. What does a scientist do?
Who can be a scientist?

MASTERY FOCUS (Pl-2, PL-3, I-1, I-6, I-10)
OBJECTIVE(S): What will your students be able to do by the end of class?
Clear and measurable: How will students demonstrate what they have learned and understood that they have understood the objectives of the lesson?

I am learning to describe what scientists do, identify safe practices in science, set up interactive notebooks, and review important tools they will be using in science. This unit has 2 parts:
• Part 1: What Scientists Do—Students describe how scientists work, including skills and tools scientists use to make sense of the world.
• Part 2: Safety and Tools—Students build on their understanding of how to keep self and others safe during indoor and outdoor investigations, and set up their science notebooks for use throughout the year.

The park is great, my wife and live going there. But many people break the rules of the asphalt paths and without your help and leadership to enforce rules, it will continue. Please add more "no bike"... signs on the asphalt paths. Better enforcement is needed. See More

I love the fact this organization is getting people outside in nature. It's nature that balances. Just getting people out to observe it and fall in love with the natural ecosystems will help to what we have plus it is wonderful to exercise and relieve stress in. See More

Overall it was very good. The heats need to be spaced out more. The start area is very precarious and could be made safer and easier to launch from.

Our car got broken into & HPD never showed up. I wouldn't suggest that anyone go to this park after 7pm. This park really needs HPD patrolling at all times or at least some damn security cameras. I ...mean come on! See More
