When to use domain verification to verify your business
18,226 views
Business verification requires you to demonstrate that you're connected to your business by either receiving a verification code, or completing domain verification. Domain verification requires the webmaster for your domain to place a special code on your website. Only a person with access to your business can do this.
We recommend using domain verification to verify your business in the following situations:
- You want to have authority over which conversion events are eligible for your domain: Apple has announced changes with iOS 14 that affect how we receive and process conversion events from business tools such as the Facebook pixel. To address these changes, we will request permission through Apple's AppTrackingTransparency framework to measure conversion events occurring on iOS 14 devices. As more people opt out of tracking on iOS 14 devices, ads personalisation and performance reporting will be limited for both app and web conversion events.
- Note: When you create an ad set, you can only choose one of the eight designated conversion events to optimise for.
- A key impact of this change is that you'll be limited to the use of eight conversion events per domain for optimisation and reporting. Domain verification establishes which Business Manager account has the authority to configure and prioritise the eight available conversion events for a given domain. Visit the Facebook developer site for instructions on how to verify your domains.
- You are an educational organisation with an .edu email address: For security reasons, we don't allow email addresses that end in .edu to receive a verification code. For these types of organisations, we recommend either using domain verification, or receiving the verification via a phone number to complete the business verification process.
- Your email domain doesn't match your website domain: We'll send a verification code to an email address that matches your business's website domain to prove that you're connected to the business. If your company's email domain doesn't match your business website domain exactly, we recommend using domain verification for your website, or receiving the verification code via a phone number.
- You want to manage editing permissions for your ads: Only verified domains have the ability to assign permissions to specific Facebook Pages associated with your Business Manager. Once your domain has been verified, you can assign permissions to specific Pages, which can include permissions to edit ad content and links. This helps to ensure that only trusted employees and partners are editing your content and representing your business on Facebook.
Visit the Facebook developer site for instructions on how to verify your domains.
