PCT Part 5: Willamette Pass to Cascade Locks (8/6 - 8/14)

Unfortunately my foot injury returned so this was my final leg of the PCT this year. I hope you enjoyed the photos!

I had to get off trail in Ashland due to injury. I sprained my foot from overuse and then gave myself an ulcer from taking too much Ibuprofen due to said injury. So, let that be a cautionary tale against Ibuprofen. Apparently Tylenol is the way to go.

I'll be getting back on trail in two weeks at the southern border of Three Sisters Wilderness to finish the hike.

PCT Part 4: Burney Falls to Ashland 7/10 - 7/21

PCT Part 3: Truckee to Mount Lassen 6/29 - 7/6

PCT Part 2: Mammoth to Truckee 6/15 - 6/27

PCT Part 1: Lone Pine to Mammoth. 6/5 - 6/13.

We spent another glorious day acclimating in the Sierra. Our location this time turned out to be Flower Lake on the Kearsarge Pass trail. The trail and lakes were mostly cleared out of snow, except for North facing slopes. The side trail to Matlock Lake was still covered by a few feet.

Last night before the PCT! I should have an update in Mammoth.

We had a beautiful hike today on the Bishop Pass trail to Long Lake. There's still quite a bit of snow up there, but it's melting out extremely fast.

Two days until I start the PCT!

So, long time no update. Don't worry, Callie and I have still been getting out on lots of local hikes, but I've taken a break from the blogging side of our outdoor adventures.

I do have some exciting news though which will get this page active again for the summer. I'm going to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from Lone Pine to Canada. I start in one week, and I'll be posting pictures and stories along the way here. They'll be iphone pics, so not quite up to the quality of what I usually post, and no, Callie will not be joining me on the 2,000 mile hike. She prefers slightly shorter trips.

I can't wait to get this trip started and to share it with all of you.

An oldie, but a goodie.

When the nearby Walker Fire burns out, this trail will once again be an excellent option near Mammoth Lakes. Sigh. Please stop burning California.

The Fern Lake trail near Mammoth is a short and steep hike, which makes it an ideal spot to get a quick escape into the High Sierra.
