What a treat this retreat was. The grounds are beautiful, the accommodat ions impeccable and the staff; amazingly kind and courteous. It’s not my first time but I’m planning to make it an annual thing.

We love this camp soo much. We sent my daughter and her cousin last year this year the the girls are going back as well as two other boy cousins for 2 weeks this time. My daughter does not even spend ...the whole night in her bed at home , but is sooo excited to go to Kulaqua for two weeks!! They have the greatest facilities and FOOD!! Camp food can be awful ( the girl scout camp failure of 2015) , but Adventist apparently have a strong belief in quality food, which they practice at this camp.. the food was a 10. The zoo was a huge hit as well as the water park and the cabins made them feel very comfortabl e. The kids raved about councillor s and how attentive and how they added to the experience .
Now not being an Adventist and not being terribly familiar with the religion I was slightly concerned about that aspect. Prayer and religion did have a significan t place, but I would call it standard christian level teachings. They did call and say my daughter had asked to be baptised. Since she has been baptised I passed , but she was super mad at me on pick up becuase it involved dunking in the private spring. Which she saw as far superior to the face dribble in our Episcopal Church. They are not pushy and if you say you do not want them baptised they are good with that. So they did not come back quoting scripture ( this happened to us when my little sister went to Baptist camp in Kentucky with a friend in the 80's) .. they only has nice habits like suggesting we pray before dinner. I was very happy with the entire experience . See More

It is refreshing to go to a public place where drinking, swearing and inappropri ate behavior are not allowed. I can take my children here without having to worry about what some drunken redneck is doi...ng in front of them. The wave pool is fun and the slides kept everyone happy all afternoon. A great time at a reasonable price. See More

It is very disappoint ing that my child came home today and told us about the foul language used by the go cart operator, as well as the profane music the person was playing. Why is this acceptable ??? ...What kind of background checks do these people go through before they're around our children? See More

I went to this camp as a child every summer and loved it. Now my kids have gone there for the past 10 years. It is such a wonderful place with amazing staff. I highly recommend this experience for any kid.

I love the 2016 Souther Union Camporee.. . it was amazing and Pastor Rojas was truly used by God. But one thing that was annoying was the girls showers. This was my second time for Southern Union campo...ree and we ALL KNOW a lot of people are going. They should have more showers. There were time we had to wait 2 hrs for a shower and 45 min for the toilets. I think it will be great if these issues can be resolved for next time. That's just my opinion, but I think a lot of ladies were to agree with me. See More

I had fun but I wish there were more staff members watching over the picnic table/ areas. We went on a day that was open to the public and some guests there were very rude. We asked one not smoke after... they pulled out their cigarettes . The man asked us if we worked there and after saying no, we just don't want to smell the smoke, have our children smell the smoke or the people who had an infant who couldn't have been even 3 months old there smell it, as a sign was posted at the entrance (NO SMOKING OR SMOKING DEVICES) he got an attitude and acted like he wanted to fight my fiancé. There were kids there that had no manners who were pushy and rude and I wish that they would also allow no meat or meat products from the public as well. Other than these things I enjoyed myself as did my family. See More

We were there on 4/30 the kids & even the adults had a good time. My only problem was that I think there should have been more water on the blow up slide (only because a few of us got burned on it) ot...her than that we are planning another trip really soon. We Loved It See More
