Today, the County Executive released her proposed budget for FY2018, which starts on July 1 of this year and runs until June 30, 2018. The budget includes a $13.9 million increase in Funding for the Board of Education. This is not as large as the $16.6 million in funding over maintenance of effort which was requested by the BoE in February, but it is a much smaller budget gap than we've seen in recent years.
There will be two public hearings on the budget. One will deal only ...with issues related to the Board of Education, and will be held on Monday, April 24 at 7pm at Winchester Hall, 12 E Church St. in Frederick. Another hearing will be held on April 18 at 7pm on other aspects of the budget.
We encourage you to come out an share your thoughts on the budget with the County Council, who will vote on the budget in the coming weeks.
