"Cavanal Hill" (actual name: Cavanal Mountain) is not really 1999 feet tall. The peak has an elevation of 2385 feet above sea level and the peak is 1960 feet above the low point in the area, which is ...the Poteau River 3 miles to the north. The whole "tallest hill in the world" meme is a fraud. I wish the local tourism agencies would quit perpetuating the lie. It is a lovely and scenic mountain and the drive to the top is worth it, but please quit calling it the "world's tallest hill" because that is simply not true. See More

Cold and windy out. But it was a good view. The road was steep and winding but it lead for a spectacular view. Tons of cameras up there, do it felt like we were being watched the whole time. Which is ...fine but creepy. See More

My wife and I drove up to the top of Cavanal Mountain today 7-16-15 the weather was hot and sunny, you could see forever. I couldn't believe the conditions of that little turnaround area, picnic table...s and viewing platform. There was trash everywhere, didn't look like it had been mowed in months. First time we'd been up there to see the view. Disappointed in the condition it was in. If the city of Poteau wants to promote that as there tourist attraction they need to spend some time cleaning it up. See More

Needs lots of cleanup done. Landscaping the monument area and lots of road work should be done.
