- I'LL MAKE IT ON MY OWN
THE FORGOTTEN MAN
Cecil (Homeboy) Lyde aka Cecil Holden
Music the universal language of dispair, peace and Love. From Blues and Gospel, to Modern Soul, Pop, Jazz to Classical, the one thing element that good music has is SOUL.
You can’t see it but you sure can feel it. Having been an original Soul Recording Artist and song writer / musician for many years, I have noticed we have gotten away from pure soul. Every good song you hear that you like has soul running over. Music environment changed back in the early 80’s when the FCC lifted restrictions for profanity on recordings and on radio. I know because before the ban, I had a single out 1981 – 82 “Moneys Funny change is Strange” and in the closing vamp I said Money Talks and Bullshit walks and Radio wouldn’t play it. Even though the record was hot and I was on tour. That’s When I became The Forgotten Man. In 1982 in Los Angeles, CA we formed the L.A Independent promotion Society Inc. for the purpose of empowering ourselves as a group to promote product and develop positive community relations within the west coast market. Also we wanted to monitor the changes that were about to come in promotion and distribution. We began to notice the influence of Hip Hop and RAP music which is nothing more than Modern Soul. And that’s how I became The Forgotten Man.
But now I am back with a new Gospel musical review Sunday morning radio show on kxeg 1280am and kxxt1010am in Phoenix, Arizona and a Greatest Hits”CD” and more Classic Soul music from back in the day. When Music was in your soul. 5 titles released on cdbaby.com including “Hard Fightin Soldier”, Homeboy & The COL, “Nu Jak Steppin” and “StoneFree” released in Japan P-Vine Records. Website cdbaby.com
