Rebecca's Story

I have had the privilege of knowing Rebecca Friedrichs for about two years now. She and her friends... are some of the most brave people I have ever met. To fight against a well funded (I would say fat with taxpayer money) special interest who controls Sacramento with an iron fist is bravery indeed. The teachers unions fight every common sense education reform and even protect teachers who prey on the very children they are supposed to be teaching. Case in point, a few short years ago the CTA killed a bill in Sacramento that would make it easier for School Districts to fire teachers and other employees who molest children. The unions make it harder and harder for good motivated teachers to get ahead on their performance rather than just seniority. God bless Rebecca, her fellow co-plaintiffs and her attorneys. I pray for their success at the U.S. Supreme Court. See More
Great work Rebecca! For those who have not read Rebecca's story, it is well worth the read. Rebecca ...first tried to reform the union from the inside, but it was impossible to change the status quo. Working in education as an administrator for 12 years, I know Rebecca's words about teachers unions intimidating their members to toe the line to be absolutely true "representatives were afraid to speak up publicly because of severe intimidation from CTA’s top union bosses"

It is my understanding that this case is NOT about discouraging union membership. The plaintiffs sim...ply want the freedom to go with their conscience on issues that violate their values and opt out of membership without repercussion. Their cause is freedom of choice in how their union dues are allocated. See More

Read about our case against New York on behalf of Sal Davi's free speech rights:

"You may think that you are surely safe from all this. After all, you won’t be hosting the Oscars or working with hyper-sensitive college students. Nor do you have wrong opinions on anything too controversial. You may think you are immune. But you are wrong. After all, many, if not most, victims of public shaming and retaliation for “wrong think” are average citizens. Just ask Salvatore Davi, who worked as an administrative law judge in New York’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance from 2010 to 2015. He was considered an exemplary employee. Yet Davi’s employers charged him with seven counts of professional misconduct for comments he made while debating politics on Facebook."

In the age of online shaming and political correctness, many people rightly fear that they could lose their employment for their private opinions. Last month it was Kevin Hart, who stepped down from...

“If people read this book and find out what is really going on, they will find out that every single problem in our schools is related to the teachers’ union."

Rebecca Friedrichs, an elementary school veteran teacher of almost 30 years and plaintiff in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, knows from experience that teachers’ unions are the number-one corrupting force in education.
