I did not know what to expect being a food snob. But I was really blown away. I am hoping a cookbook will be created for the fans of this restaurant.

Highly recommended for those that can handle an ...explosion of fresh flavours and contrasting spices. See More

We recently had lunch at Chachawan, a chic restaurant on Hollywood and Possession Street in Sheung Wan that specialises in eastern Thai cuisine. Opening hours are 12-3pm (lunch) and 6.30-11pm (dinner)....

This is a fun restaurant with an urban yet organic decor and atmosphere with a handful of tables and an open kitchen with bar seating in the back. The restaurant dishes out sour-spicy salad, soup and grilled dishes.

During our lunch we tried the bowl of Tom Yung Gai (HK$148) and the Larp Moo (HK$118), both of which were richly and vibrantly flavoured servings. Our eyes were popping while we enjoyed the intense dishes. Fresh ingredients and heavy usage of fish sauce made flavours of both stand out prominently. Be ready to sweat a bit but more from the potent flavours instead of an overuse of hot chilis which sometimes happens with Thai food.

For dessert, we enjoyed the fried banana pancake as well as the excellent Kanom Dtom. This is a serving of glutinous rice balls filled with sweet coconut shed, served in a salty coconut milk. Wow, what a perfect medley of salty-sweet. This was one of the most interesting and delicious desserts we've tried this year, something worth returning to Chachawan for on its own.

We also enjoyed a couple of their creative cocktails during our visit. The Glo Sour and Thai Lime Mojito were interesting, refreshing and overall nice drinks to enjoy before and during our meal.

Overall, a bit pricy for Thai meals but this isn't your typical green chicken curry sort of place. Dishes are fresh, flavourful and well worth trying if you fancy a meal featuring intense flavours and taste. We look forward to a return to Chachawan in the near future.

It is in front of my usual hotel in HK, but I would travel miles for it. If you like tasty and spicy, this is the place for you. If you fancy cocktails that are 'different' try the Spritz or the Cha C...ha Smash. Everything in the food menu is delicious. Staff is friendly and service is very good. What else? See More

Best thai food in Hong Kong. Can be pretty spicy but most dishes are extremely well balanced. But if the food is a little too spicy they have a small but extremely complimentary cocktail list. Also Ju...nior the manager is a superstar See More

It was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Hong Kong and we simply loved it! The duck salad was seasoned perfectly tangy and spicy with layers of texture, absolutely lovely. Every dish was just... perfect. Cocktails were good as well. We were not up for dessert but they sent us green mango with chili sugar and kaffir lime sugar... It's been a long time since I tried anything new from a restaurant and this was definitely new to us. It was beautiful. This place is a must go when around central/soho. btw the staff was super friendly and nice. See More

I've been here three times and never been disappointed.
The food is heavenly.
Ambience is relaxed and buzzy....
Staffs are friendly and lovely.
Not trying to play favor but Junior is my favorite
For someone like me who never, ever wait for anything, I am willing to wait for over an hour for a table here. Yes the food is that good
In my humble opinion (I also have a restaurant so I kinda know the business a little), Chachawan is one of, if not THE BEST Thai restaurant in town.

We've been coming here for a while now and sure, the food is great but the service and attitude is a joke. The host just blatantly lied to me about having 'no tables' as they were all booked. Puzzled,... I said "I thought you didn't take bookings?" - he proceeded to try and tell me it was a private event- though clearly not a single person knew anyone. If you want to be treated like an idiot, wait around for hours and pay a lot for it, this is the restaurant for you. If you want to eat some good food and have a great night, HK has plenty more to offer. See More

Awesome dinner at Chachawan! The food is tasty, flavored, perfectly cooked and balanced, so amazing that I swallowed I think at least ten meals and still wanted to try more! It was a real trip for the... senses and even better than what I have eaten in north Thailand. I recommend this place, impossible to be disappointed! Thank you to the team and congratulations to the Chief! See More
