"As an advocate for gender equity at all levels of organized sports and athletics, Champion Women the organization (Nancy) Hogshead-Makar now leads, got involved with the cause. It was able to get an enormous number of athletes, sports organizations, and religious organizations to sign on in support of the legislation, and it garnered nearly 100,000 signatures on a Change.org petition. Such advocacy helped ensure the Safe Sport Act made its way successfully through Congress."

Change.org shared Brut's video.
This powerful video from Brut demonstrates what a difference it can make when people in a community come together regardless of their political differences to keep someone they love with his family.

Ripped from his family by ICE after living in the U.S. for 30 years, he was on the verge of deportation until his community rallied to his side.

Today is National Boy Scouts Day, and a perfect day to celebrate the efforts of Sydney Ireland, a trailblazer who came to our platform to fight for girls to be able to join the Boy Scouts alongside her father, Bryan. Boy Scouts offer high-level Scouting that has resulted in opportunities that girls have been cut off from in the U.S. simply due to their gender until the Boy Scouts of America voted four months ago unanimously to allow girls to join the Boy Scouts. Sydney's campaign continues because she may age out of the Eagle rank before she can take advantage of the victory she and her father helped secure.
BREAKING: Despite more than 45,000 signatures on a Change.org petition and international public support for Syed Ahmed Jamal, he faces deportation as soon as early next week, according to his lawyer. The Kansas City Star http://www.kansascity.com/…/politics-…/article198888389.html

See MoreThe Raw Story "The ink is barely dry on a trillion-dollar tax cut for multinational corporations, and one of its largest beneficiaries is already looking for more. Earlier this month, Bank of America announced it would be applying a $12 monthly surcharge for e-banking, a policy that disproportionately affects its poorest customers...The too-big-to-fail bank’s greed has sparked outrage. As of January 28, a Change.org petition opposing the surcharge had received more than 115,000 signatures."
As of yesterday, that number had surged to nearly 300,000 signatures.
More than 33,000 football fans have signed a viral petition asking the NFL to ban Chris Collinsworth from commenting on Eagles games after what they say was a biased Super Bowl performance. "Chris Collinsworth is the most biased and horrible commentator ever," the petition starter Damien wrote. "Being a Philadelphia Eagles fan and having to listen to him constantly talk about the Patriots and hardly ever the Eagles during the game made it almost unbearable." https://www.change.org/p/national-football-league-never-hav…
On the United Nations International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, we share the words of FGM survivor Masooma and many thousands who support her and the work of other survivors of FGM or Female Genital Cutting: "The World Health Organisation (WHO) classifies FGM as a violation of the human rights of girls and women. According to WHO, FGM reflects deep-rooted inequality between the sexes, and constitutes an extreme form of discrimination against women. It is nearly always carried out on minors and is a violation of the rights of children." #EndFGM
Change.org shared NowThis Her's video.
Petition starter Sarah Barrick is a domestic violence survivor who's fighting to change divorce laws in North Carolina. Currently, the law requires that married couples be separated for a year and a day before a divorce is granted -- no exceptions, even in the case of violence.
Change partnered with NowThis Her + NowThis to share Sarah's story and the work she's doing to bring changes to her state, as she hopes no one will have to experience what she has ever again.

Recy Taylor was abducted and brutally gang-raped by white men in September 1944. Historians know now that had she stayed silent about what happened to her, the civil rights movement may have never started. But before that movement, or #MeToo or #TimesUp, Taylor and her family were alone and poorly treated because she had the courage to speak up about what happened to her. Her brother Robert Corbitt came to @Change.org while he was in retirement in order to ask for the apology his sister was due. With the support of 20,000, he made change and set the precedent for acknowledging the horrors of the past in 2011.
