Love Chau Haus! I'd been anxiously awaiting their opening, and was not disappointed when I got to go. My boyfriend and I popped in one night, and were immediate...ly impressed with the über-friendly service.

Once we arrived, I suddenly became painfully aware I was in no way guaranteed any vegetarian options... but was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian/vegan accommodations! The staff definitely go out of their way to serve up great food for all dietary restrictions, which I so appreciated. Miranda, Frankie & company were so welcoming and fun to chat with. We didn't expect the extraordinary quality of service and food when we stopped in, and had a wonderful time.

We are looking forward to trying Polish night tonight, and supporting Dining out for Life, too! Thanks for giving me a vegetarian German option in Kalamazoo, I'm so spoiled. :)

I love everything about this place and basically tell everyone about it whenever I can. 1. The food is amazing traditional meat and potatoes, they also have gre...at vegetarian food and some bomb salads. 2. The whole staff is so laid-back and it's really fun to just go and hang out for lunch or dinner. If you're lucky, you'll get a yukalale performance too! See More

Last month, we went to the Rathskeller in Indy. The Chau Haus beats them hands down. We had amazing schnitzel and the cheesecake is superb. European style seati...ng, so plan to be friendly. Very friendly and inviting staff. Small space, so if you're claustrophobic try it in the middle of the week. Occasional live music. We will be back. Very nicely priced. We had entrees and dessert, generous portions, and sparkling water for $30.00, including tip. Had a great time with our table mates: Stephen and Roger. See More

Don't let the small stature of this place fool you because they are big on taste! We went there with our party of seven last night and everything was amazing! W...e tried both the pork and chicken schnitzel the potato pancakes the meatball and veggie meatballs subs, and the curry wurst.

Everything tasted great and one of the owners gave great service and saying several songs with his ukulele. We will definitely be back over and over and over!

Had the Polish platter and city chicken appetizer. Being Polish from the Detroit area, I was raised on this food. I haven't had city chicken since my mom made i...t for us when we lived at home. This was just as good as Mom's! Flavors were excellent, perfectly seasoned. I personally like a little thinner dough on my pierogis, but they still tasted wonderful and everything was obviously homemade from scratch. Chef Frankie and the staff were so personable. What a nice addition to downtown! Can't wait to try the German food and bring my Mom here when she visits👍 See More

I formerly attended a university in Tampa with close proximity to Mr. Dunderbak's, an amazing German restaurant and biergarten, which set a very high bar for Ge...rman food. I have been missing it ever since I moved to Michigan and thank schnitzel that Chau Haus opened! This is the closest German food I've had to Dunderbak's so now I can curb the wurst of my cravings. The food is fantastic and made fresh in house! The people are so friendly! The schnitzel, sausages, sandwiches, and sides are all tasty and there is always a fresh made dessert to round things out of you still have room. I frequently visit Chau Haus and will definitely be back for the next Polish food night. Those pierogies were outstanding! See More

We went for the Sunday brunch and it wasn't good. The eggs and potatoes were cooked without seasoning and were just terrible. My wife ordered the pork schnitzel... and it was also bland and way too oily. She spent the rest of the day throwing up. Considering that this is a cornerstone of German food I can't believe that this place has any good reviews.

Pros: friendly staff.

Cons: food, everyone I know can cook better at home. The price is also kind of high considering that it competes with much much much better places. The interior of the restaurant is pretty sad.

We had a fabulous meal on Tuesday evening! I had Vegestopheles meatball sandwich with red cabbage and it was a delicious vegan entree. My hot date had Schnitzel... and Potato Pancakes with Frankie's applesauce and it was delicious!!! PLUS, we were serenaded by Miranda. It was a great evening and we will be frequent visitors. Besides the delicious food, the music and atmosphere were splendid! Thank you Chau Haus! See More

Like any good German restaurant, they have a variety of meat dishes, but they also offer delicious Haus-made veggie "meatballs," barley burger and mushroom schnitzel. Great place for vegans and meat eaters to share a meal!

Our first time here was excellent! It was cozy and tight but well worth the meal! My only grip would be that I wish they had a high chair! It was a balancing act for my husband to hold our 17 mo old and eat. However, even our toddler ate it all!

Their food is so good; my husband and I split a dinner of chicken schnitzel, red cabbage and spatzel with mushroom gravy and a kolaczki for dessert. There was enough food for the two of us.
I recommend it and the staff is great!

This place is delicious and the owners and staff are extremely kind! We came in today with a cranky toddler who was cold and hungry and they started playing live music for us! My son loved it. Lunch and a show? Yes please! Thank you! We will be back!

Just finished eating at Chau Haus. I have never had more enjoyable dining experience. Frankie's cooking was phenomenal and the music and home like atmosphere ...made us feel like part of their family. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. We may return tomorrow to try Polish night. My Kalamazoo people, go as soon as you can. See More

This has outstanding German food! My husband and I actually plan our vacations around good German restaurants. This one isn't good - it's freakin' amazing! I... highly recommend the spätzle with cheese, you will not be disappointed. The meatballs are great also! Did I mention the desserts are sublime? They deliver and do take out.
