Weddell Seals can swim as deep as 800 metres which is a remarkable depth for a reasonably small mammal. Rather than live on ice floes like the Crabeater Seal, they are more likely to be found on fast ice, especially when breeding. Emperor penguins have been captured in Antarctica getting up close and personal on film. Australian Antarctic expeditioner, Eddie Gault, left the camera on the ice when visiting the rookery, and it didn't take long for the naturally curious birds to seize the opportunity for a selfie.
