After a nearly 4 years hiatus, I feel that the project I have started more than a decade ago as “Chris Rain” has come to an end. As much as I am attached to these images, of which some have stayed with me since the beginning of my career as photographer at the age of 19, they are far from what defines myself in the present and giving up my former alter ego is the most coherent thing to do. Lately I have lost interest in photography; showing over and over the same pictures and... repeating the same patterns to match other people's expectations has lead me to a lack of creativity, the uncanny process that once used to take shape on a daily basis between a sketchbook and a darkroom was long time gone. At some point in the future I will certainly exhibit again some of the works made in the past, but now the urgency to focus into something new is stronger, somehow the idea of starting over with a new name, a new portfolio and a new identity on social media excites me.
I would like to thank personally each curator, publisher, collector and gallery owner for their support that has given me the unique opportunity to show and promote my work all around Europe. Above all, I would like to thank the few significant people whom I have shared that part of life with during the years I was based in Rome. On request, I would be glad to give access to documents, contact sheets and digital scans, all the uncirculated prints made prior to mid-2013 will keep their original signature.
