Spring rains are right around the corner. You may want to consider flood insurance. Floods are the nation’s most common and costly natural disaster and cause millions of dollars in damage every year. Recovering from just one inch of water inside your building can cost about $27,000. https://www.fema.gov/national-flood-insurance-program
Hello Residents and Business Owners,
Just another reminder to please clear your sidewalk of snow and ice. While the City makes crews available whenever possible to clear sidewalks, most snowfalls require that they concentrate on City streets and areas around Oak Terrace school, and the business district. Therefore, as is required by City Ordinance (8-3-1), please clear your sidewalk from property line to property line and together we can ensure access throughout Highwood. Thanks https://weather.com/weath…/radar/interactive/l/USIL0225:1:US
Due to a water main break at the Military Base, residents may notice a reduced pressure and slight color change in the water. The problem has been isolated and is currently being repaired. NO BOIL ORDER IS REQUIRED. Please run your water for 2-5 minutes to ensure any air or sediment has exited your lines. We apologize for any inconvenience this unforeseen issue may have caused. We hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year!

Due to a timing and accounting software glitch, the water bills this month have prorated charges from next month onto this bill. This over charge will be corrected on the next bill, which will be reduced. Please call City Hall with any questions or concerns. We apologize for the error.
Officer Byrne found this cute little guy running around without a collar at Highwood Avenue and High Street. Does anyone know the owner? Please call 847-432-2151 before 5:00 PM or dispatch at 847-604-8992 after 5:00 PM.
New Parking Meters Go Live This Thursday
The City will be eliminating the metal boxes with the cash and coin slots and its Metra lots, and moving to digital parking meters this Thursday.
The downtown station meter is located on the north end of the platform and the Fort Sheridan meter is located inside the station. These locations provide better shielding from the weather than the current box locations....
The machines require that the driver enter their license plate number. The space numbers will no longer be used.
The machines take cash or credit cards but do not dispense change. The parking rate will be reduced to $2.00 per day (from $2.25) to eliminate the need for coins. The City also uses the Passport Parking App, and sells quarterly passes at City Hall.
