REEVES ELECTED AS OFFICER OF LEPA
Plaquemine Mayor Edwin M. “Ed” Reeves, Jr. has been elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the Louisiana Energy & Power Authority (LEPA) Board of Directors. He began serving on the board shortly after taking office as Mayor in January of 2017. He was elected as the board Secretary/Treasurer at its meeting in February.
LEPA provides Plaquemine with its electrical power. “I plan on being a very active officer because LEPA’s activities greatly impact our residents’ utility bills,” He said. “It is imperative that we get the most efficient power costs possible.”

BE AWARE OF SCAM: Plaquemine City Light & Water has been notified by a few customers that the City is being used in a phone scam. They received calls saying their utility payments were past due and they would be cut off if they didn't make a payment to a specified address. Customers are being asked to give their social security number to verify they are the correct person. The calls have been coded to be a local phone number. These calls have NOT been authorized by City Light & Water. Customers who are past due on a payment are notified by mail or by the city meter reader putting a notice at the property. Customers are never notified by phone call. If you receive such a call, it is NOT City Light & Water. Please report the call to Plaquemine City Police at 225.687.9273 so they can try to locate the scammers.

THE CITY IS CLEANING AGAIN! Mayor Ed Reeves continues to push cleaning up the City of Plaquemine. You may have seen city workers pressure washing the barrier walls along La. Hwy. 1 at Bayou Plaquemine in the past two weeks. These walls haven't been cleaned in many, many years, and have gone from black with grime to their concrete color (as is shown in the photo). The city is also continuing its efforts to force property owners to clean up unsightly property in the city.

The City Utilities Department is asking all residents to not drip their faucets tonight until the temperature is below 32 degrees. The city has been able to maintain water pressure through this freezing weather, but one tower is getting low, and we have another freeze tonight. By minimizing the use of your water, you help the city build up water in that tower. This will help us maintain pressure through the night. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. PLEASE SHARE

The City Utilities Department is asking all residents to stop any dripping faucets as soon as the temperature reaches 32 degrees today (Thursday), which should be by 11 am. The city has been able to maintain water pressure through this freezing weather, but one tower is getting low, and we have another hard freeze tonight. By minimizing the use of your water, you help the city build up water in that tower throughout the day today. This will help us maintain pressure through the night, when residents will have their faucets dripping again. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. PLEASE SHARE

The City of Plaquemine offices will open on Thursday for its normal hours: 7:30 am - 5 pm Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 am until 11:30 am on Friday.
