Girls' Track
On Friday night, the boys and girls track teams were each able to win regional track and field championships on their home track. This marked the fourth consecutive regional title for the boys and the fifth consecutive regional title for the girls. 11 Clare girls qualified in 9 different events. State qualifiers on the evening included: Lainey Veenkant in the 1600m Run and 3200m Run, Grace Gomez in pole vault, Kayden Barber in the 100m hurdles, Lexi LaPoe in the ...300m Hurdles, the 400m Relay team of Kayden Barber, Olivia Cook, Erin Weeks, and Ellie Johnson, the 800m Relay team of Riley Schroeder, Olivia Cook, Erin Weeks, and Ellie Johnson, the 1600m Relay team of Katherine Haupt, Riley Schroeder, Lainey Veenkant, and Ellie Johnson, and the 3200m Relay team of Katherine Haupt, Olivia Haring, Kameron Haag, and Lainey Veenkant. Other Regional medalists included: Erin Weeks's career best jump of 15'1.5" to finish 4th in long jump, Abby Mellish 8th in long jump, Jenna Betts 6th in high jump, Grace Parsons 5th in discus, Natalee Kunse 7th in discus, Kayden Barber 5th in the 300m hurdles, Lexi LaPoe 4th place career best time of 17.24 in the 100m hurdles, Olivia Haring 5th in the 2 mile, Kameron Haag 3rd in the 2 mile, Katherine Haupt with an impressive time of 2:27 to finish 3rd in the 800m run, Olivia Haring and Natalee Kunse 4th and 5th in the 1600m run, and Ellie Johnson with an impressive time of 26.34 for 4th in the 200m dash. Career personal bests also included Madisen McNeilly's time of 1:05.55 in the 400m dash. Great job ladies!

Boys' Track
Congrats to the boy’s track team for winning their fourth straight Regional title at home on Friday. Many outstanding performances were witnessed against tremendous teams. All-Region medalists on the day were as follows: Tad Matiza (6th) and Drew Schuster (7th) in the 100; JJ Gross (7th) in the 400; Brody Allbee in the 800 (5th); David Good (4th) and Alan Winter (6th) in the 1600; Jayce Miller (8th) in the 3200; Myles Williamson (4th) and Justin Roberts (6th) in t...he 110’s; Kolt Lincoln (3rd) and Williamson (5th) in the 300’s; Noah Nivison (5th) and Dustin VanSicklen (6th) PR’d in the shot put ; Shane Jenkins (6th), Tyler Smith (7th), and Kaden Kelly (8th) in the high jump; Alec Hoffman (3rd) and Joel Lingaur (4th) in the pole vault; and Tad Matiza (6th) in the long jump. Michael Horbatiuk also PR’d in the shot put. Qualifying for the MHSAA state meet-- The 3200 relay team of Aidan Boyd, Brody Allbee, David Good, and Justin Tickle in season record time; Kolt Lincoln in the 110’s with a new PR; Xavier Martin in the 200 with a new PR; Noah Nivison with a new PR in the discus; Zac Stickler in the discus; the 1600 relay team of Brenden Sersaw, Martin, Colt Smedley, and Tickle in season record time; Stickler in the shot put while breaking his own school record; and the 400 relay and 800 relay teams of Sersaw, Smedley, Martin, and Jake Hawley in school record times. The Pioneers defend the Conference crown in Roscommon on Tuesday.

Girls' Track
The girls track team picked up wins last night against Gladwin and Harrison. The pioneers finish their regular season 7-0 in the Jack Pine Conference for the fifth consecutive season. There were 11 individual event winners on the night. First place finishers included: Abby Mellish in long jump, Kayden Barber with a strong time of 17.28 in the 100m hurdles, Ellie Johnson in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash, Lainey Veenkant in the 1600m and 800m Run, Lexi LaPoe in the... 300m hurdles, and the 3200m Relay, 800m Relay, and 400m Relay. Other shout outs include: Jenna Betts with a jump of 4'8" and Molly Weeks with a jump of 4'6" in high jump, Katherine Haupt and Olivia Haring with times of 5:41 and 5:44 in the 1600m, Ellie Johnson, Riley Schroeder, Madisen McNeilly, and Desi Coe with season PR's in the 400m dash, Lexi LaPoe with an impressive time of 49.72 in the 300m hurdles, Kayden Barber and Bailey Taylor with season pr's in the 300m hurdles, Katherine Haupt with a season PR of 2:31 in the 800m, Josie Fox with a season PR of 3:03 in the 800m, Ellie Johnson, Olivia Cook, Riley Schroeder, and Erin Weeks all with season Pr's in the 200m dash, and the 4x1 with an impressive season best time of 52.10, as well! Boys' Track
Congrats to the boys’ track team for sweeping Harrison and Gladwin at Harrison, and once again finishing out the regular undefeated.

The Pioneers won many events and set many PRs across the board.

Joel Lingaur set a new PR in the Pole Vault; Tyler smith won the high jump with a new PR; Dustin VanSicklen won the shot with a new PR; Noah Nivison won the discus; Kaleb Brewer and Brecken Corp PR’d in the 110’s; Justin Tickle won the 800; JJ Gross, Brody Albee, Trent Cook, and Ben Wood PR’d in the 400; Colt Smedley PR’d in his win of the 200; Atreyu Franks PR’d in the 100; Kyle Yost and Tiernan Gallagher PR’d in the discus; and Cristian Kunse PR’d in the shot put and discus.

The Pioneers next compete at the Oiler Invite tomorrow in Mt Pleasant.

The girls' track team ran well at the Shepherd Invitational on Friday night, landing 4th in the big school division. There were many strong performances on the night. Lainey Veenkant ran 11:00, Katherine Haupt ran 12:06, Kameron Haag 12:07, and Olivia Haring 12:27- which are very impressive times for the 3200m Run. Division medalists included: Grace Gomez clearing a new pr of 8'8" to finish 2nd in the pole vault, Lexi LaPoe-1st in 300m hurdles, Jenna Betts tied for 2nd in hig...h jump with a season PR of 4'7", Erin Weeks finished 6th in long jump, Lainey Veenkant 4th in the 2 mile, Kayden Barber 4th in the 100m Hurdles, Olivia Cook 6th in the 100m dash, Riley Schroeder 4th in 400m Dash, the 400m relay and 800m relay finished 1st in their division, and the 1600m relay team finished 3rd.
