We just purchased a 250 SLX from Clarks Landing at Chester location, it was the worst customer service experience i have ever had to deal with. We gave the sales man a deposit for the boat on June 28... and told him we would be down to take it out for a sea trial on Saturday of that week. We arrived to find the boat out of the water and was told no one was working to put it in the water, so a 2 hour road trip just to walk on and around the boat. At the walk around we had a small list of thing for them to fix before we sign the papers and pay for the boat. A trailer was to be ordered at that time as well. A few days before we are to sign the papers (July 15) and receive the boat we are told they have no trailer, but would have on on Friday that week. They agreed to put it in the water so we could use it the day we purchased it.
The day we came down to sign the papers and purchase the boat we had a 10 minute sea trial, during that time the salesman drove us out about 10 minutes and i drove about 3 minutes, nothing was turned on and no buttons touched. After the keys were handed to us and we filled the tank up, we took our new boat out for a afternoon on the water. Once we started using things we noticed to radio had 2 speakers not working and the trim was not working correctly, we sent him a email. The next day received a email back telling us we would be charged for the work on the boat. After a few emails back and forth the trim was to be fixed and a new Amp was ordered for the boat.
Friday of that week came, still no trailer and was told 2 more week. So again they put it back in the water for us to use that weekend. We like the bay but really are more of lake people. So we were told on July 26 that we would get the trailer on August 4. At that time I called to speak to a manager about this problem, the manger called me back after looking in to the problem and I was told the trailer would be there on July 29th and the boat would be fitted on Monday, July 31. The service lady called to tell us the AMP was ordered but was not going to be shipped in enough time to install for pick up on August 2. We told her that was fine at this point just have to boat ready for pick up on August 2 and ship us the AMP we would take care of it. Once we arrived at Chester to pick up the boat again not ready, still waiting on the temp tag for the trailer.
This is a great boat and after all the looking for a boat, we wanted this one. It was a great price and we had heard of good things about Clarks Landing, but I think over the years from when our friend had purchased a boat from them, they have gone down hill. Once the boat was finally home and the oil was checked it was 1 quart low and the trim is still not working correctly, so we are taking it our service guy to have to boat gone over.
They will have to give me a boat to have me buy another boat from them.

I have worked with Paul Lash on two occasions. Paul sold my boat for me within 1 week and the transaction was seamless. Paul sold me another boat and again went above and beyond to make the experience... great. I would recommend Paul for your boating needs. Thanks, Bill See More

At the Chester MD Clarks Landing a lack of clear communication and follow up is a common practice for a place where you can drop thousands of dollars in a day. I am truly sorry we choose to take our ...Grady White to them. Around July 4 were were told one of our engines starters were bad. After $700 and 2 weeks later the engine still failed to work and were were told the head was bad. But they couldn't have known the head was bad until we spent $700 to fix the starter. At the same time accounting was calling to demand payment for the starter one day after we got the bill. Mind you the engine still didn't work and we were afraid we may be throwing good money after bad. Not wanting to shell out $15,000 for a new engine we agreed to a rebuild. Whew- bad idea. 2 weeks after we approved the rebuild we were told the test run had failed. Note that i had been calling them every week since no one had called me proactively. I guess Im not a big enough customer. At a month and a half out at this point still no working engine. Another two weeks past and we are into August and we are told the head was being shipped but the manufactuer was behind. Big sigh. Finally late August the head arrives and is finally installed. Heres the kicker- it still doesnt work. They are now supposed to try again. Our boat slip with Clarks was supposed to be a fathers day present to my husband and its a nighmare. Much of our turmoil could have been cleared up with more communication from them but we often had no idea if the boat was in or out the water or what was going unless we called. So they still have our boat and we have not gotten an indication of what this is supposed to cost us now. You cant charge us for all these failed heads or can they? The biggest fear is we get the boat back and the engine works for one day. Now thats Murphys law. One would hope they would not be charging us a slip fee at this point but nope. It obviously time to cut our losses and cry into our beers. Summer is over and we only had it in the water twice. I guess i can be pleased about the fuel savings? See More
