Creative Alberta heeft het bericht van Tad Hargrave gedeeld.
Tad Hargrave

"The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on th...em.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies .. Awards tarnish ... Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money ... or the most awards.

They simply are the ones who care the most." - Anonymous

It is past time to put the arts into action for every child in this country. If we are serious about equipping our kids with the tools they need to be successful in the future, let’s prove it by systematically and completely addressing the inequities that exist in our schools right now. I recently p…

School districts have been quick to cut music and art programs when budgets get tight, focusing instead on "employable" skills like math and science. But there's a strong body of research indicating that neglecting the arts in school puts students at a cognitive disadvantage throughout life.

The work of Jasmine Kay Uy for her University of Texas at Austin Department of Art and Art History Digital Foundations class with Bethany Johnson titled "Art is... Pointless...". The prompt was to create a work that investigated site-specificity, public setting, and text-based art using Illustrator and the vinyl cutter. According to Uy, the format was inspired by Publicis London's Corners campaign for Depaul UK. Any reproduction of this work is done so without my permission. This project is meant to be a short-term investigative project that is to stay within the confines of the University of Texas at Austin.

Educators hope that arts integration will help improve student academic achievement over time.

Crime doesn't pay. Come to think of it, maybe crime and art now have something in common...

This is what happens when you forget to pay the meter on your public artwork.

Happy Friday - time to lose yourself.

As one particularly astute observer of human emotions might put it, it is a truth universally acknowledged that we can’t all be Albert Einstein. In fact, none of us can.

THIS. Is the reason CreativeAlberta was formed.

Several schools, including ones in high-poverty areas, are making art critical to the learning of more academic subjects. They're seeing remarkable student improvement as a result of arts integration.

A wonderful example

Inspired by artist Man Ray, seventh-graders made lanterns using paint, sculpture and finally photography.

Creativity can seem like an abstract concept, but having a definition can give a learner the power to practice it on a regular basis.
