On the night of Saturday, August 26th at around 11:00pm, my 3 kids and I were stranded on the side o...f the road with a blown tire. We live in Denver and were trying to get home after my sister’s baby shower. Earlier that day, on our way to the party on I-25, a huge piece of metal flew up and stuck into my car.
If it would have gone through the windshield, we would have been seriously hurt. I only say all that to say how stressed I already was from that incident. Back to that night, my kids were exhausted and I couldn’t get ahold of my sister for help. As a mom, I was almost in tears being so far from home and stranded in the middle of the night. Just then, a fire truck was passing by and immediately stopped to help. They blocked a lane of turning traffic to keep us safe and changed my tire for me. I can’t tell you how amazing they were that night. All of them were so professional and kind and I cannot tell you what that meant to me. I am so grateful they stopped that night and I want them all to know how well they represented the Colorado Springs Fire Department. I am so impressed with the caliber of people hired on at your department.
