'#SGBudget - @[207410879287301:274:Dr Maliki Osman]: "We are heartened that Singaporeans’ commitment to defence and support for NS remains strong, and we will continue to share more of our stories in the coming year."

While we enjoy the peace and stability we have today, let's also honour and emulate the spirit of our pioneers. Check out this recent video series, which shows how our SAF Pioneers helped build up Singapore's defence.

'The security threats facing Singapore have become increasingly complex. In this time of troubled peace, the SAF is doubling up its efforts to gear up for a spectrum of threats.

We too must play our part in helping to shore up our social, psychological, economic and civil defence.

'With a father and two elder brothers who have all gone through Officer Cadet School, OCT Marcus (second from left) had no lack of people to turn to for support. The main source of inspiration who spurred him on during weeks of tough training was his father, who had extended his service as an SAF volunteer even after completing his NS cycle.

“I’ve always looked up to my dad as someone with a great sense of responsibility towards serving the nation and that really inspired me to be like him,” said OCT Marcus.

He was among the 335 cadets who received their 2LT rank at this evening’s Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade. Stay tuned for more details!'
'Although OCT Sarath initially went to Specialist Cadet School (SCS) after BMT, he excelled and eventually made the cross over to Officer Cadet School (OCS).

“During SCS, I worked with many people from different walks of life and learnt how to communicate effectively with them. This helped me to work more efficiently with people in OCS.”

In fact, OCT Sarath did so well, he clinched the coveted Sword of Honour award.

Stay tuned to find out more about this evening's OCC Commissioning Parade!'

'The F-15SG performs a tight turn which generates a force up to 9 times of gravity pressing down on the pilot.

Untrained personnel will likely lose consciousness as blood drains towards the lower extremities, but thankfully, fighter pilots in @[236424069799458:274:The Republic of Singapore Air Force] undergo rigorous training in a Human Training Centrifuge (HTC) to condition themselves to manage the high G forces. (p/s: check out this story to find out what it's like to experience G-Forces in the HTC: http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/resourcelibrary/cyberpioneer/topics/articles/features/2014/sep14_fh.html)'
'The F-15SG rolls three times along a longitudinal axis. This manoeuvre may appear simple, but in order for the pilot to maintain a straight path of travel, he has to make constant adjustments - not an easy task when your entire world is spinning round and round!'
'The F-15SG starts its solo performance, demonstrating the twisting and turning movement it would use in evading a surface-to-air missile (SAM) attack.'
'The show begins with the AH-64D entering from the right and pulling up at the show centre. It then flips around and meets the F-15SG flying in from the right at the show centre. The F-15SG then pulls up in a sharp vertical climb.'

'Did you know that in the past, the Warrant Officer and Specialist (WOSpec) Corps was known as the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Corps? Back in the days, NCOs were sticklers for regimentation and discipline. Over the years, the WOSpec Corps has built on this traditional foundation and developed into the SAF's expert trainers and warfighting specialists.

Find out more about these milestones and other interesting facts in the history of the WOSpec Corps as we countdown to the 24/2015 Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade tomorrow! With Pride, We Lead!
