Arreguín advocated for the Berkeley Way project — a plan to develop 140 units of affordable housing — and added that the city has a goal of constructing more than 600 additional units of permanent, affordable housing over the next five years.
"According to the College Factual website, the UC Berkeley campus and the surrounding area are less safe than average in colleges across the United States. The overall safety rate is D+ for UC Berkeley."
When her team attended meets at Haas Pavilion, Yuleen envisioned herself under the bright lights with the Cal logo across her chest.
“I came to these meets and I was like the kid in the handstand contest,” Yuleen said. “I still have my T-shirt that college students signed for me.”
“(Cooper was) deeply committed to equity and to making sure that Berkeley remained a diverse and inclusive community,” Mayor Jesse Arreguín said. “We will continue to work for the things that she strived for.”

Of the 33 recommendations given to UCOP by the state auditor, 33 have not been fully implemented. Of the seven recommendations given to the UC Regents, seven have not been fully implemented.
Mayor Arreguín is expected to cover the accomplishments of his new administration and address future strategies for various city issues, including affordable housing, homelessness and environmental sustainability, according to the mayor’s office.
