Here's a little acoustic diddy I wrote as a tribute to Warrel Dane. Any of you familiar with Nevermore will probably recognize the intro. It was done in one take so it's not flawless but it is raw and real - something I think Warrel would've appreciated.
I wrote this song back in 2013 for my friend Hayes who just passed away recently. Back in the early part of 2013 he bought his first gun, a .45/.410 caliber revolver manufactured by Taurus that was called "The Judge". As you can see in the picture, it literally has "The Judge" engraved into the side of the barrel. This was the inspiration for the song hence why I dubbed it The Judge. Before anybody gets too butthurt, I wrote the song as a joke. It's about a psycho-hillbilly g...oing on a killing spree so you've been warned. Albeit a joke to me, Hayes thought it was the coolest thing ever and was floored when he first heard it. I knew he liked bands like Ministry and Butthole Surfers so that's what I was aiming for, with my twist on it of course. I took the liberty of remixing and remastering it this past week and it sounds exponentially better than the original from 2013, in case any of you heard and remember that version.
Just in case I kick off, I'm uploading music from my past to YouTube. Today's selection is my cover of the Santo & Johnny classic instrumental Sleep Walk.
Dude said he's had nothing but a positive response to my music so as of now, I'll be doing all of the music for his channel from now on. I've got a lot of other things I'm working on right now that could use some free exposure down the line so this is great news for me! Also, even if you're not into intermittent fasting or keto or minimalism, he has a lot of other great content on his channel and a great sense of humor which is on display with today's video he just put up so go subscribe to his channel. If for no other reason than to keep up with all the crazy music I'll be supplying on a weekly basis. Today's vid has some cool shots of the Paul McCartney concert he took his mom to this past weekend in New York.
So there's a Youtuber named Scott The Truck Driver who I stumbled upon several months ago researching intermittent fasting and long story short, I offered to write him a new intro theme a couple weeks ago and he said to just do my interpretation of what he already had so that's what I did. He just used it on the video he posted today which I'll link down below. He also used it as the outro and put my name in the credits at the end! Pretty cool. If you know anybody that needs a jingle written for them, my rates are cheap haha
Channeling some Marty Friedman today. This is about as close to taking selfies as I'll ever get.
I've been told that this new song I wrote sounds like a cross between old school Faith No More and NIN meets Def Leppard's Rock Of Ages. Total departure from my normal heavy metal stuff but I needed a break from cookie monster and blast beats. If you have a moment, go check it out and show some love to your boy by liking and sharing.
