Operations in Atlanta are returning normal following a winter storm. Delta people have worked around the clock to clear aircraft of snow and ice and get customers flying safely. A normal operation schedule is expected for Thursday afternoon and no cancellations are anticipated Friday.
Delta expects its operation to recover Thursday, following yesterday’s winter storm that affected airports along the Gulf Coast and the Southeast. Some residual cancellations in the morning are possible, however improving weather across the country Thursday will aid in the airline’s operational rebound.
Customers are encouraged to check the status of their flight via Delta.com or the Fly Delta Mobile App and a winter weather waiver is in effect for customers flying to, through or from those affected airports. Delta employees at airports throughout the Southeastern U.S. and along the Gulf Coast are digging out after a winter storm brought snow and ice to several airports throughout the region. An additional 200 Delta mainline and Delta Connection regional flights have been cancelled as a result of accumulation and strong winds.
Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport saw more than 1.5 inches of snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, prompting extensive aircraft de...icing and the closure of some of the airport’s five runways early Wednesday morning.
Operations in Atlanta are resuming. A significant number of new cancellations is not expected for flights into or out of Atlanta or in other airports in the Southeast. To help speed the operational recovery, we’ve called in members of our Deicing Go Team—a group of seasoned deicers from our Minneapolis hub—who will work in Atlanta throughout the day to clear aircraft of snow and ice.
As the storm moves through the Northeast, a limited number of flights at New York’s LaGuardia and Boston Logan International have been canceled, though significant disruption is not expected at those or other Northeastern airports.
