We need the Senate to act...

Ten weeks ago the House passed the #HEROESact to extend unemployment assistance. And for ten weeks, the Senate did nothing. Now, amid the country's worst quarterly economic contraction EVER and unemployment claims once-again rising, these benefits are expiring. It is unacceptable.

Hey, folks, Derek Gilmer here from our nation's capital. listen, we have folks that are hurting right now because of this pandemic people who have lost their jobs and are worried about making ends meet. and that's why 10 weeks ago, the House passed the Heroes Act to extend unemployment assistance and food assistance and help for state and local governments and housing protections to help people pay the rent and to avoid eviction and foreclosure and for 10 weeks, Mitch Mcconnell in the Senate did nothing, They said. What's the hurry? Let's just pause well now unemployment benefits are expiring and some of the assistance that folks need is expiring and people are gonna be hurting. I got a note from Craig on Bainbridge and he said I for one can tell you that without this assistance, our family would be in dire financial trouble immediately a hero to me without the additional $600 per week, Our family could be on the road to foreclosure and our recent high school grad will not be attending State College. In Port Orchard called it a crucial lifeline for his family in fact, these payments have been a financial lifeline for more than 20 million out of work Americans. so it's time for the Senate leadership and the White House to stop treating this like a game to be won. These are human beings who are depending on these problems to be solved this week our country recorded its worst quarterly economic contraction ever it's a week in which the National death toll from this virus up to a hundred and 50000 So after 10 weeks and I hope we see something and if I seem a bit outraged by this, it's because I think this in action is outrageous and it's hurting the folks I represent so please know I'll keep pushing to get this done.
