I was blessed and cursed with a name that is hard to forget (a good thing) but easy fodder for anyone and everyone I come into contact with. I get it everyday, from bank tellers to Blockbuster employees. I've heard them all...so don't even think about making a Babalu joke or I will hunt you down.
I'm a self-avowed Louis Armstrong nut. I'm the Archivist for the Louis Armstrong House Museum (aka Dream Job) and I published a book in June 2011, "What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong's Later Years" (Pantheon). I also have an Armstrong blog at dippermouth.blogspot.com. See what I mean?
I am also the world's luckiest man, coming home daily to my wonderful wife Margaret and beautiful daughters Ella and Melody. They're my entire world and everything I do, is for them.
- "When they study our civilization 2,000 years from now, there will be three things that Americans will be known for: the Constitution, baseball, and jazz music. They're the three most beautiful things American have ever created." - Gerald Early "What we play is life." - Louis Armstrong, "Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... now you tell me what you know." - Groucho Marx
