And another. This needs to stop. We can't lose more from our family. Race in Peace Ron.
It is with great regret and sadness that we are letting you know that Ron Martin passed away yesterday. Ron was a legendary team member and first to receive th...at award recently. The video attached gives you a sense of Ron celebrating life, in this instance our first Baja 1000 win in Class 1 in 2009 when his son Dan brought it across the finish line. Ron was like a teenager in his enthusiasm and his zest for life. Many were the nites during races that we shared a bottle of wine and a Cuban cigar and laughter while being rescued from the desert or preparing the night before the race.
He was the definition of a great guy-- a great friend, loyal and true, always there for you with a smile and a story and quotable quotes. We join his family in mourning his loss and we promise to put up that cross on the highway in Baja where Ron said he wanted one someday. Ron will certainly be missed, and we will be thinking of him always in Baja, and looking for that next race win to celebrate in his name! Ron was the guy who taught us about racing from the very beginning of our team, and showed through his example how to live life well, and well-loved. RIP Ron.
And now another has left our Desert Racing family here on Earth. Such a loss. You remain an icon, a leader, a selfless mentor, a king in our community. We will miss you brother. Race in peace.
Casey Folks Crosses the Final Finish Line.....With a sad heart, Best in the Desert announces the passing of our leader on January 11, 2017
2016 has been a rough year. As a community, we have lost some great racers, men, dads, leaders, contributors and in DMR's case, dear trusted friends and team mates.
We will always remember those who have passed especially Mike Hobbs. You were a great friend to us all.
May 2017 bring our light and happiness back that is the core of our camaraderie. We want it and we will have it again in your memory....
Merry Christmas to all in our circle and our community. We will prevail.
Ride on Mike....

Congrats to Todd McTallguy. This dude went through some real, desert racing hell. He never quit! Now, he is the BITD Class 5 Champ.
You too Gunny.
Wheezy Racing brings home another win! We were running second all weekend until our competitors and friends the Meurer family blew their engine. Not how we like... to win but we'll take it. This also wraps up the overall class 5 championship in Best In The Desert. Literally a dream come true for me. First and foremost I give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for keeping us safe and blessing us with the means to do this stuff. Huge shout out to my wife Lindsey, my other driver Fred Mooney, our main codog Steve Susral and all the sponsors who stepped up to make things happen when we needed it most. #lucasoil #lucasoiloffroad #mavtv #wickedcreations #racecousa #bfgoodrich #bfg #gglighting #tpmracingteam #skmbuilt I love and appreciate all of you. #class5 #class5coalition #champions
I am so sorry Robby. I met your pop one summer at Newport Dunes and we watched your race together. He was a real guy, authentic and a hallmark to our desert racing community with his success, integrity and leadership. We have lost so many and so much in the last few months.
R.I.P. Baja Bob and Sharon.
Our friend Mark Slater was killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. Mark often pitted with our crew at the desert races. Mark was a great competitor, father and family man. Rest in Peace Mark Slater. You will be missed.
We wish the very best of race luck and safety to our friends racing at the 2016 Vegas to Reno race.
